Answer:

Given the 2 values, height and the base, of these 2 triangles, we can assume that they are similar (meaning they share the same angles) as we have no other information to determine the height of the tree.

Therefore, if these triangles are similar, their corresponding sides are proportional. In other words, PZ/RT = QZ/ST or RT/PZ=ST/QZ

Hence, if we find the ratio of this, we can use it to find the side <em>h</em>

<em>QZ/ST=PZ/RT</em>

<em>48/12=PZ/4</em>

<em>PZ/4=48/12</em>

<em>(PZ/4)3=48/12</em>

<em>PZ(3)/12=48/12</em>

<em>48/3=16</em>

16=PZ.

NeX [460]
1) Which ratio is equivalent to [tex] \frac{4}{16} [tex]?
[tex] \frac{4}{16} * 2 = \frac{8}{32} [tex], or 8:32.

2) Write the ratio as a unit rate [tex] ( \frac{286miles}{5 \frac{1}{2} hours} ) [tex]
Set the equation up like this:
[tex] \frac{286miles}{5 \frac{1}{2} hours} = \frac{Xmiles}{1 hour}\\
286*1=(5 \frac{1}{2})*x\\
286 = \frac{11x}{2}\\
11x= 572 [tex]
x = 52 [tex] \frac{miles}{hour} [tex]

Describe the steps to draw a line perpendicular to line segment AB through point C that is not on the segment.
poizon [28]

Answer:

First you can just flip the line on point C to make a 90 degree angle. That's the simple way.

Other way is to get the slope of AB let's say ex : -1/2

We need to get the slope of C to be a reversed reciprocal of -1/2. So, 2.

Basically I flipped -1/2 in to -2/1 then removed the negative sign for 2.

Hope that makes sense to ya

The length of a rectangle is 10 feet more than the width. The area of the rectangle is 96 square feet. Find the dimensions of th
alexandr1967 [171]

Answer: The dimensions of the rectangle are 6ft and 16ft.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the width of the rectangle be y

Let the length of the rectangle be y+10

Area= 96ft

Since area of a rectangle is length multiplied by width

y(y+10) = 96

y^2 +10y =96

y^2 +10y -96= 0

Solving algebraically,

y^2 +16y - 6y - 96= 0

y(y+16) - 6(y+16)= 0

(y-6)(y+16)= 0

y-6= 0

y =6ft

Recall that the width was denoted as y. That means the width is 6ft.

Since length is y+10= 6+10 = 16ft

Length is 16ft, width is 6ft.
