The answer would be 5/12 because you have to get like denominators, 4 and 3 both go into 12, and then whatever you do to the bottom you must do to the top, so for 1/4 you did 4 times 3 = 12 so you do 1 times 3 = 3 so 3/12, and for 1/3 you do 3 times 4 = 12 so you do 1 times 4 = 4 so 4/12. Then you add 3/12 and 4/12 together to equal 7/12 then 12/12 minus 7/12 = 5/12 -- sorry if that's too confusing

write a decimal division problem that has an estimated quotation of 4. explain how to get the estimation
vodomira [7]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

 15.8 ÷ 3.9

Step-by-step explanation:

To make up this problem, we can start with two numbers whose quotient we know is 4, such as 16 and 4. Then we can choose two numbers that round to these values, such as 15.8 and 3.9

__

The problem 15.8 ÷ 3.9 has an estimated quotient of 4. The estimate is found by rounding each value to the nearest integer and finding the quotient of those numbers: 16/4 = 4.

_____

Additional comment

The actual quotient is 4 2/39, about 4.05128.
