The final answer is (65, 60).

   x + y = 125
       - y    -    y
-------------------
   x = 125 - y

12(125 - y) + 6y = 1140

1,500 - 12y + 6y = 1,140
  1,500 - 6y = 1,140
- 1,500          - 1,500
------------------------------
   -6y = -360
  ------- --------
    -6       -6

y = 60

 x + 60 = 125
    - 60    - 60
-------------------
 x = 65

Answer:

1. D

2. x=65

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi!

Your answer is D because 78 is 120% of x

120% in decimal point is 1.2.

So it's 1.2x is the same as 120% of x

For question 8:

Isolate x by divide 1.2 on both sides
