Answer:

DNA analysis

Explanation:

DNA is unique for all individuals. DNA analysis is the process of analysing the DNA characteristics of an individual.

DNA profiling is used in forensics to identify the suspects involved in criminal activities.

1. In the process, DNA of the suspects is matched with the DNA found in the site of the crime.

2. If a match is found, it indicates that the genetic relationship exists between the suspect and the criminal or the crim.

3. The order from the court is needed to obtain the DNA of the suspects. The sample can be in the form of blood or saliva.

4. The sample obtained should have adequate cells which contain the DNA.

Issues

The DNA obtained from the crime site is not pure or proper enough to be ideal for the DNA profiling.

Degraded sample

1. The sample obtained from the site of the crime is not always adequate to obtain the actual DNA.

2. The sample can be contaminated due to the environmental factors.

3. The sample obtained is too less and hence, should be examined accurately in order not to waste the sample.

DNA mixture

4. The sample obtained from the site of the crime is found to contain DNA from more than one individual.

Profiling types

DNA profiling can be carried out by using any of the techniques mentioned below.

1. RFLP analysis (  Restriction fragment length polymorphism )

This uses the Southern blot technique. The blot process needs a large amount of the sample. Also, this works well only when the sample is not degraded.

2. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis

3. STR analysis ( short tandem repeats )

4. AFLP ( amplified fragment length polymorphism )

This is an automated and low-cost process. It is easy to set up and operate which makes this process common in low income countries.

All the methods mentioned above have their own advantages and drawbacks.

A palindrome is a string that reads the same from left to right and from right to left. Design an algorithm to find the minimum
stepladder [879]

Answer:

Explanation:

The following code is written in Python. It is a recursive function that tests the first and last character of the word and keeps checking to see if each change would create the palindrome. Finally, printing out the minimum number needed to create the palindrome.

import sys

def numOfSwitches(word, start, end):

   if (start > end):

       return sys.maxsize

   if (start == end):

       return 0

   if (start == end - 1):

       if (word[start] == word[end]):

           return 0

       else:

           return 1

   if (word[start] == word[end]):

       return numOfSwitches(word, start + 1, end - 1)

   else:

       return (min(numOfSwitches(word, start, end - 1),

                   numOfSwitches(word, start + 1, end)) + 1)

word = input("Enter a Word: ")

start = 0

end = len(word)-1

print("Number of switches required for palindrome: " + str(numOfSwitches(word, start, end)))

You want to create a directory called ~/Documents/papers, but you’re not sure that the ~/Documents directory exists. What comman
SCORPION-xisa [38]

Answer: e) mkdir -p ~/Documents/papers

Explanation:

As the question says we want to create a directory called ~/Documents/papers, but we are not sure whether it exist or not so we would type the command for making directory starting with mkdir.

Here mkdir means make directory. Followed by mkdir we will use -p. Here p is used to create all the directories for getting us the directory we want and its advantage is that it would ignore all the errors if the directory already exist.

Followed by the name of the directory that we want to create.

So the desired answer for the given condition would be mkdir -p ~/Documents/papers

Multiply each element in origList with the corresponding value in offsetAmount. Print each product followed by a semicolon (no s
oee [108]

Answer:

Replace /* Your code goes here */  with

for(i =0; i<NUM_VALS; i++) {

    printf("%d", origList[i]*offsetAmount[i]);

printf(";");

}

Explanation:

The first line is an iteration statement iterates from 0 till the last element in origList and offsetAmount

for(i =0; i<NUM_VALS; i++) {

This line calculates and print the product of element in origList and its corresponding element in offsetAmount

    printf("%d", origList[i]*offsetAmount[i]);

This line prints a semicolon after the product has been calculated and printed

printf(";");

Iteration ends here

}
