Karolina [17]
Are you sure you've copied down the original problem exactly as given?  i38 = 38i can't be simplified.  Perhaps you meant i^38, which is a different matter.

Note that i^38 = i^32 * I^4 * I^2.

Note that i^0, i^4, i^8, etc., all equal 1.  Therefore,

i^38 = (1)(1)i^2 = 1*(-1) = -1 (answer)

A circular running track is 1/4 of a mile long Elena runs this track completing each lap in 1/20 of an hour what is her speed
PSYCHO15rus [73]

Answer:

The speed is equal to 5\frac{mi}{h}

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The speed is equal to divide the distance by the time

Let

x------> the distance in miles

y-----> the time in hours

s----> the speed in mph

so

s=\frac{x}{y}

In this problem we have

x=(1/4)\ mi

y=(1/20)\ h

substitute

s=\frac{(1/4)}{(1/20)}=20/4=5\frac{mi}{h}

The vertices of the triangle are the points where any pair of lines intersect.

We start by setting up the system

\begin{cases}y=-x+2\\y=2x-1 \end{cases} \iff -x+2=2x-1 \iff 3x=3 \iff x=1

Using one of the two equations we can derive the correspondent y value:

f(x)=-x+2 \implies f(1)=-1+2 = 1

So, one vertex is (1, 1)

We choose the other two pairs of lines to find the other vertices:

\begin{cases}y=-x+2\\y=x-2 \end{cases} \iff -x+2=x-2 \iff x=2 \implies y = 0

\begin{cases}y=x-2\\y=2x-1 \end{cases} \iff x-2=2x-1 \iff x=-1 \implies y=-3

So, the three vertices are (1, 1), (2, 0), (-1, -3).
