Answer:

The statement is True.

Explanation:

There are many forms of business. Partnership, limited liability, sole proprietor, commercial, etc. Sole proprietorship is a business that is owned and run by a single person. That person is the owner of the business. We can call him an entrepreneur, or sole proprietor, or single trader, etc. There are many disadvantages of running business individually, as you are the one who is solely responsible for all the liabilities of the business. But at the same time, sole proprietorship has some benefits associated with it for the small business owners. The main advantage of running the business single handed is to enjoy the whole profit made out of the business. When the owner is responsible for all the liabilities of the company, just like that, he is the one who is receiving all the profits from the business. So when business is small, there is no need to divide the small amounts of profits between the shareholders. All the profit is kept by the individual owner.

In Country C, the unemployment rate among construction workers dropped from 16 percent on September 1, 1992, to 9 percent on Sep
tekilochka [14]

Answer:

(B) 30% decrease

Explanation:

We proceed with the calculation as follows:

For September 1, 1992

For simplicity purpose, let us assume the total number of construction workers in 1992 is 100.

Since, construction workers’ unemployment rate in 1992 = 16%

Therefore;

Number of unemployed construction workers in 1992 = 16

For September 1, 1996

Since the number of construction workers was 20 percent greater on September 1, 1996, than on September 1, 1992, we have:

Total number of construction workers in 1996 = 100 × (1 + 0.2) = 120

Since, construction workers’ unemployment rate in 1996 = 9%

Therefore;

Number of unemployed construction workers in 1996 = 120 × 9% = 10.8

Calculation of change in the number of unemployed construction workers between September 1, 1992 and September 1, 1996

Change in number of unemployed construction workers = 10.8 - 16 = – 5.2

This implies a decrease of 5.2. This will be used is absolute term to calculate the percentage as follows:

Percentage of Change number of unemployed construction workers = (5.2 ÷ 16) × 100 = 32.5% decrease

Since 32.5% is approximately 30% which is the closest in the question, the approximate percentage change in the number of unemployed construction workers between September 1, 1992 and September 1, 1996 is therefore a 30% decrease.

Note:

In real life, there cannot be 10.8 or 5.2 unemployed construction workers. We just used the figures as a hypothetical example without rounding to get for simplicity purpose.

mr_godi [17]

Answer:

a. XYZ's average selling price per handlebar last year was $30

b.

XYZ's total variable costs last year were $36,000

c. XYZ's average unit variable costs last year were $6

d. XYZ's average unit contribution margins ($) last year were $24

Explanation:

a.

XYZ's average selling price per handlebar last year = Total Sales/number of handlebars sold = $180,000/6,000 = $30

b.

XYZ's total variable costs last year = total costs - fixed costs = $100,000 - $64,000 = $36,000

c. XYZ's average unit variable costs last year = Total variable costs/number of handlebars = $36,000/6,000 = $6

d. XYZ's average unit contribution margins ($) last year = Selling price per handlebar - average unit variable costs = $30 - $6 = $24

National Geographic is replacing an old printing press with a new one. The old press is being sold for $350,000 and it has a net
kkurt [141]

Answer:

$240,000

Explanation:

National geographic is replacing an old printing machine with a new one

The old printing machine is sold at the price of $350,000

It has a net book value of $75,000

The income tax is 40%

= 40/100

=0.4

The first step is to calculate the taxable value

= $350,000-$75,000

= $275,000

Income tax= taxable value×tax rate

= $275,000×0.4

= $110,000

Therefore, the net from sales can be calculated as follows

= $350,000-$110,000

= $240,000

Hence the net from sale of National Geographic is $240,000

Eddi Din [679]

Answer:

The current values for BEp and margin of safety before the proposed changes are:

BEP units: 7,800

in dollars: $ 358,800

Margin of safety:

2,200 units or $ 101,200 of sales

Explanation:

The break even pont is the level of salesthat makes the operating income equal to zero. the margin of safety is the amount above this level at curernt sales.

Sales \: Revenue - Variable \: Cost = Contribution \: Margin

Contribution per unit: $23

Fixed Cost $179,400

\frac{Fixed\:Cost}{Contribution \:Margin \:Ratio} = Break\: Even\: Point_{dollars}

179,400 / 23 = 7,800

In dollars: 7,800 units x $46 each = $ 358,800

Margin of safety:

10,000 - 7,800 = 2,200

in dollars 460,000 - 358,800 = 101,200
