You should first add -11 on both sides of the equation so you will have:
r + 8r = 29 -11 ⇒ 9r = 18 ⇒ r = 18/9 ⇒ r = 2 :)))
i hope this is helpful

Two car rental companies have the following payment plans: Cart: $90 per week and 15c per kilometre Renta: $110 per week and 10c
sesenic [268]

Using linear function concepts, it is found that the maximum whole number of kilometres that can be travelled in one week with Carz if it is to cost less than it would with Renta is of 399.

<h3>What is a linear function?</h3>

A linear function is modeled by:

y = mx + b

In which:

  • m is the slope, which is the rate of change, that is, by how much y changes when x changes by 1.
  • b is the y-intercept, which is the value of y when x = 0.

For each car, Cart and Renta, the linear functions are given by:

C(k) = 90 + 0.15k

R(k) = 110 + 0.1k

Cart will cost less than Renta if:

C(k) < R(k)

Hence:

90 + 0.15k < 110 + 0.5k

0.05k < 20

k < 400

Hence, the maximum whole number of kilometres that can be travelled in one week with Carz if it is to cost less than it would with Renta is of 399.

Simplify the given rational expression by completing the step
aalyn [17]
For this case we have the following expression:
 (5c ^ 2-15c ^ 3) / (20c ^ 2d + 25c ^ 2)
 We make common factor c ^ 2:
 (c ^ 2 (5-15c)) / (c ^ 2 (20d + 25))
 We do common factor 5:
 (5c ^ 2 (1-3c)) / (5c ^ 2 (4d + 5))
 Canceling similar terms we have:
 (1-3c) / (4d + 5)
 Answer:

The simplified expression is given by:

(1-3c) / (4d + 5)

I want to earn $42,000 for a new car, I have 12,678, How much more money do I need to buy the car?
laila [671]
So, you have $12,678. However, you want to earn $42,000 for a new car. If you want to figure out how much money you need, you need to subtract the number of money you want to earn by the number of money that you already have:

42,000 - 12, 678 = 29,322

You would need $29,322 more in order to buy the car.
