Answer: 5 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A ball is thrown into the air from the top of a building.

The height, h(t), of the ball above the ground t seconds after it is thrown can be modeled by h(t) = -16t^2 + 64t + 80 .

When ball reaches the ground , then its height from ground become zero.

i.e. h(t) = -16t^2 + 64t + 80=0

Divide equation by 16 , we get

-t^2 + 4t + 5=0\\\\\Rightarrow\ t^2-4t-5=0\\\\\Rightarrow\ t^2+t-5t-5=0\\\\\Rightarrow\ t(t+1)-5(t+1)=0\\\\\RIghtarrow\ (t+1)(t-5)=0 \\\\\Rightarrow\ t= -1 , 5

Since time cannot be negative , therefore t= 5

Hence, the ball will take 5 seconds ( after being thrown) to hit the ground.

lidiya [134]

Answer:

The total of Charlie's be $7.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Charlie and his friend Jay went to the fair. They were having a sale and the admission was 25% off.

The regular ticket price was $9.00.

And the tax is 6%.

Now, to find Charlie’s total.

So ,we deduct the 25% off first:

\$9.00-25\%\ of\ \$9.00

=9-\frac{25}{100} \times 9

=9-\frac{225}{100}

=9-2.25

=\$6.75.

Now, including tax :

\$6.75+6\%\ of\ \$6.75

=6.75+\frac{6}{100} \times 6.75

=6.75+0.06\times 6.75

=6.75+0.405

=\$7.155.

<u><em>Approximately = $7.</em></u>

Therefore, the total of Charlie's be $7.

Help me please, what are the like terms?
andriy [413]

Step-by-step explanation:

Like terms are are terms whose variables (and their exponents such as the 2 in x 2) are the same. In other words, terms that are "like" each other. Note: the coefficients (the numbers you multiply by, such as "5" in 5x) can be different.

So like in your picture x and x would be like terms... your picture helps as well to identify your like terms because your like terms have the same background color to there particular rectangle.
