<span>
1. Although the state of Florida receives a lot of rainfall, about 61 percent of that water leaves the ground by evaporation and transpiration, and another 38 percent is ‘lost’ into the Atlantic Ocean & Gulf of Mexico, thus leaving only 1 percent of the rainfall water available for drinking and other human use.

 2. Florida has a very vast underground water system, known as the Floridan aquifer system; for this reason, Florida is the source of drinking water to four other states. These states are South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. The Floridan underground water system is made up of the Upper and Lower Floridan aquifers.

3. Residents of the state of Florida wanted to get rid of the water in certain areas of the state because there was too many wetlands, they experienced frequent flooding which posed a great measure of difficulty in navigating the state.

4. One negative result of the changes made by people in order to get rid of the ‘excess’ water in Florida was groundwater depletion which has led to the drying up of wells, decrease in water level in streams and lakes, reducing quality of water and land subsidence.

5. One thing that has been done to try and improve those mistakes is Rainwater harvesting; a method which is often used to replenish ground water. Using the rainwater harvesting approach, an outlet pipe is connected from the rooftop and used to divert the rainwater to existing wells.

What was the Cretaceous tertiary extinction attributed to what major events that triggered the extinction of dinosaurs
vfiekz [6]

Cretaceous extinction also known as Paleogene extinction was a period of time when suddenly around three quarter of the animal and plant species began to get extinct from the land. The event happened around 66 million years ago and is considered as the end of cretaceous era that lead to the beginning of Mesozoic era.

Reasons for the mass extinction:

  • Scientists think that a major asteroid or comet hit the surface of earth which deteriorated the earth’s environment, especially by making it difficult for plants to perform the process of photosysnthesis. This is called as Impact hypothesis and scientists think that it was the reason of extinction of so many species because they found debris of asteroid in the land.
  • There could also be some other reasons like climate changes,volcanic eruptions and changes in the sea level which made the environment unfavorable for the survival of living organisms.
  • One of the best known organism that is thought to extinct in cretaceous period was dinosaur.

Extinction of Dinosaurs:

As stated above the exact cause of dinosaur extinction can not be stated with confidence. This is because cretaceous period was the time when so many unfavorable circumstances took place like diseases,  geologic events ,climate change etc.

However, the most believed theory is that some Asteroid hit the surface of earth and turned the climate very very old. Therefore, those amazing creatures were not able to survive that climate.

Hope it help!
