Answer:

D- 8 protons, 8 neutrons, 8 electrons

Explanation:

A neutral atom is one in which the number of negative charges balances the number of positive charges.

Positive charge component of atom is the proton

Negative charge component of an atom is the electron.

Hence, for a neutral atom, number of proton = number of electron

Also, number of proton in an element = atomic number of the element

Oxygen has atomic number of 8. Hence the number of proton is also equal to 8. In addition, since proton number = electron number for a neutral atom, the number of electron is also equal to 8.

The correct answer is D.

Which best defines a diploid cell during meiosis?
Lubov Fominskaja [6]
Diploid cells. Meiosis is the process of cell division by which involving gametes. Cell division is just the same for sperm and egg cells, but they have distinguishable descriptions and labels in the process. Spermatogenesis is for the males’ sperm cells and oogenesis is the process for females’ egg cells. The cell division of meiosis involves the two phases, respectively meiosis I and meiosis II. Meiosis I like mitosis is the cell division that produces diploid cells. These diploid cells are cells that contain a complete pair of chromosomes which is 46. The result is two diploid cells after the first meiosis. To provide clear explanation, in contrast haploid cells only contain 23 chromosomes and are created after meiosis II which is 4 in number.

"Early philosophers and naturalists used (FILL IN THE BLANK) characteristics to classify living things."
Zanzabum
Perhaps the answer is "physical characteristics". I am simply making an educated guess, however I do know early philosophers classified organisms into two groups, Plants and Animals, and identified them based on physical characteristics.
