In the rectangular coordinate system above the area of PQR is what fraction of the area of LMN

From the attached figure we find the area of PQR and area of LMN

WE know the formula for area of triangle = \frac{1}{2} * base * height

In the triangle PQR,

Base PR= 4

Height = distance between x- axis and point Q = 4

Area of the triangle PQR = \frac{1}{2} * 4 * 4 = 8

Similarly we find the area of LMN

In the triangle LMN,

Base LN= 12

Height = distance between x- axis and point M = 12

Area of the triangle LMN = \frac{1}{2} * 12 * 12 = 72

Hence , \frac{area PQR}{Area LMN} = \frac{8}{72} = \frac{1}{9}

Area of PQR = \frac{1}{9} of the area of LMN

The student council at Spend too much High School is planning a school dance. The table below shows the budget for the dance.
Pie
The dance would /cost/ the school 50 dollars, making the profit -50. The dance tickets make 300, and the DJ takes away 250, making a 50 profit. However, the decorations cost 100, taking away that from 50, making -50.

Mekhanik [1.2K]

Answer:

C and D

Step-by-step explanation:

We can see that the base of the bigger triangle is 6. Based on the straight sides adjacent to the hypotenuse, the bigger one's height is 6 and the smaller one's is 3. This means that the smaller one is half the size of the bigger one. This means that if the bigger base is 6, the smaller one is 3. Since it is 3, we move 3 spaces left from point Z to get point Y. If you moved 3 spaces left, it would be (-5,2). You can also move 3 spaces right and then your Y point would be at (1,2) so C and D are the 2 possible answers.
