William Edward Burhtgard Du Bois was an important African-American activist and author. He was mainly known for promoting rights for African Americans by being a leader of multiple movements and organizations including the Niagara Movement and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Besides this, in the education field, Du Bois was prominent because he obtained a bachelor's degree in 1888 from Frisk University, and later he studied at Harvard University, in this he earned first a bachelor's degree and later a doctorate (1895) which was a prominent achievement because he was the first African-American in doing this. Thus, Du Bois was the first African-American to earn a doctorate from Harvard University.
