These samples are biased because the newspaper staff went to a basketball game, football game, and volleyball match to interview the students he hasn't surveyed the random people as the people who have gone to watch the game are obvious that they would love that game.
When you go to a particular sporting event and ask someone their favorite sport, they are more likely to respond the sport that they're watching at that moment. This creates bias.
