When you write the reaction, it is shown below:

CH₃OH + CH₃COO⁻ → CH₃COOH + CH₃O⁻

Since no figure is given showing the direction of the curves, I can't be really sure what you are referring to. However, I would guess that the first arrow is from the H atom of methyl alcohol transferring to the acetate ion. As a result, the methyl alcohol turns into an anion called methoxide.

What is the term for a liquid composed of polar molecules?
IrinaVladis [17]
A dissolving liquid composed of polar molecules is a polar solvent.

The distinction of polar and non-polar liquids is important because the like dissolves like rule. This rule states that the solubility is greater when the polarity of the liquid is similar to the polarity of the solute.

So, to dissolve polar compounds (e.g. ionic compounds) you should use polar solvents (e.g. water).

Answer: polar solvent

Balance the following equation: H20 --> H2 + O2
MakcuM [25]

2H2O = 2H2 + O2.

Explanation:

Balancing equations is very essential because of the fact that it represents the stoichiometric quantities of the reactants needed to react to form the product. The ratio of the weights of reactant and product are also very well understood from this.

Here in this equation, the water is broken into hydrogen and oxygen. The balanced reaction is

2H2O = 2H2 + O2.

Two moles of water is broken down into 2 moles of hydrogen and one mole of oxygen.

The mass of a solid substance is 21.112 g. If the volume of the solid substance is 19.5 cm3, calculate the density of the substa
Ostrovityanka [42]

Answer:

ρ = 1.08 g/cm³

Explanation:

Step 1: Given data

Mass of the substance (m): 21.112 g

Volume of the substance (V): 19.5 cm³

Step 2: Calculate the density of the substance

The density (ρ) of a substance is equal to its mass divided by its volume.

ρ = m / V

ρ = 21.112 g / 19.5 cm³

ρ = 1.08 g/cm³

The density of the substance is 1.08 g/cm³.

Arun and Marcus are asked to compare the solubility of two salts in water at room temperature. The two salts are labelled X and
oksian1 [2.3K]

Answer:

1) Salts X and Y

2) The solubility of the salts

3) a) The solvent

b) The solvent temperature

Explanation:

1) The independent variable is the variable that is suspected to be the cause of the subject of the investigation

The given investigation is meant to investigate the solubility of different salts

Therefore, the solubility is expected to be dependent on the type of salt, and the independent variable is the type of salt, X or Y

2) The dependent variable is the effect meant to be observed in the investigation, which is the solubility of the salt in water at room temperature

3) The control variables are the variables which are held constant during the investigation, including;

a) The solvent used if the investigation; water

b) The temperature of the solvent; Room temperature
