Answer:

C is correct.

When vectors are to be added the correct order is head to ail.

This is opposed to subtraction where the vectors are connected tail to tail.

(D) shows 2 vectors how would be subtracted and the result would the sum of the lengths of the vectors (since they are shown as being colinear).

The force of earth's gravitational field is always directed downwards (towards the center of the earth. When the ball is thrown up, it is going against the earth's gravitational field and so, the earth's gravitational force pulls it back down, accelerating it downwards.
