Answer:

Having rejoiced that "the fearful trip" of the war is over, Whitman moves the tone of his poem in three stanzas from the exultation of triumph to despair as the country is now without a leader. The speaker himself feels a personal loss: "But I with mournful tread,/Walk the deck my Captain lie,/Fallen cold and dead."

Answer:

in the first half of the poem, the tone is joyful and celebratory, then it shifts into a heartbroken and depressed tone in the end. the tone of "o captain! my captain!" does not so much change over the course of the poem as it maintains a tension between happiness and melancholy throughout its three stanzas. in the first stanza, we see this in the shift in language between the first half—"prize," "won," "people all exulting". towards the end we see the "bleeding" heart of the poet.

Which of the following sentences is correct? Which of the following sentences does not properly use a subordinating conjunction?
Sati [7]
The correct answer is C. He acts like he's going to cry.
A subordinate conjunction acts two functions within a sentence. First, it shows the importance of the independent clause. Second, it gives a transition between two ideas in the same sentence.

Which event from the story best represents the character-versus-nature
Arte-miy333 [17]

Answer:

The correct answer is D. Crusoe loses his newly built roof to an earthquake.

Explanation:

The character-versus-nature conflict means that there is an issue between a character in a story and nature that surrounds him or her. Usually, nature wins over man, and man is powerless before it. This is exactly what happened to Crusoe - he spent a lot of time building his new home on a stranded island only for it to be destroyed by nature when an earthquake occurred.

Other types of conflict include:

- character versus self: conflict within one character

- character versus character: problems between multiple characters

- character versus society: one character against many

What Are 3 Reasons Bear Hibernates
stepan [7]

Answer:

Some bears hibernate in hollowed-out tree trunks. Some take a months-long rest beneath thick brambles and brush. Others dig into the hills to forge snug dens. And still others discover caves to hide away from the biting winter chill. But wherever a bear chooses to hibernate, the objective is the same. It's a keen adaptation to avoid the long, ruthless winter famine. Hibernating animals — including ground squirrels, groundhogs, and bats — slow their breaths, reduce their heartbeats, and substantially wind down, or depress, their metabolisms. Such dramatic changes can be taxing on their bodies, but the alternative, amid a starving winter, is almost certain death. So, come fall, the animals go into a controlled, coma-like state.
