1. John lost 9 golf balls in the golf course, and when he returned home, he has 14 golf balls. Let the original number = x. Note that lost = subtract.

x - 9 = 14

Isolate the x. Note the equal sign. What you do to one side, you do to the other. Add 9 to both sides

x - 9 (+9) = 14 (+9)

x = 14 + 9

x = 23

John started with 23 golf balls.

Note that dozen = 12

Multiply the amount of groups with 12.

Marsha started with 72 cookies.

30 drinkers were asked whether they like coffee or tea.
Keith_Richards [23]

Answer:

a)22

b)7

c)8

Step-by-step explanation: its really complicated so ill try my best.

so the say 11 like both coffee and tea so that means that they also added 11 to

the other two sections. so if we take 11 away from 18 we get 7, and that's how many people like coffee and not tea. to get answer c) we need to also subtract 11 from 15, which gets us 4. so we have 11 plus 4 plus 7. and that gets us 22.  so 30 subtract 22 gets us 8 so 8 people don't like tea or coffee. 22 is also the answer to a). did you get that? i hope so

Find the value of c that completes the square
Kitty [74]

Answer:

c = 64

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

x² - 16x + c

To complete the square

add ( half the coefficient of the x- term )² to x² - 16x

x² + 2(- 8)x + 64

= (x - 8)²

Thus

x² - 16x + 64 = (x - 8)² ← a perfect square

with c = 64

Find the value of x.
kherson [118]

Answer:

46degrees

Step-by-step explanation:

Find the value of x.

Using the circle theorem which states that

The angle at the vertex is half the difference that at the intercepted arcccs

x = 1/2(152 - 60)

x = 1/2 (92)

x = 92/2

x = 46degrees

Hence the value of x is 46degrees
