Which solution of ethyl alcohol is more effective at inhibiting microbial growth: a 70% solution or a 100% solution? Why?
Triss [41]

Answer:

70% solution is more effective

Explanation:

The 70% solution is more effective at inhibiting microbial growth than the 100% solution of the ethyl alcohol.

This is because the pure ethyl alcohol coagulates the protein that is in contact with it.

Also, pure alcohol will tend to evaporate faster than the 70% solution of the ethyl alcohol and it will not be that much effective.

Considering the experimental design, which claim is best supported using the data?
VLD [36.1K]

Answer:

C low competition for glucose

Explanation:

From the given answer choices and information,

It cannot be A since there is no visual disease or any indication of disease in the experiment

Cannot be B, since space would not be an issue since it clearly hit 111 on day 3

and cannot be D since there is no indication of a change in temperature.

However, we know Petri Dishes have nutrients to stimulate cell growth, and those resources are not unlimited therefore we can only attest that a large portion of the nutrients have been consumed and starved some of the cells thus causing a population decrease

No machine can achieve 100% efficiency in terms of work output. In any mechanical system, what is considered the most common cau
Alex777 [14]
The answer is A, friction.

Friction is the force that resists movement, and that's why oil is used as a lubricant and why ball bearings are used for machines that need to move with very little friction(i.e. bike wheels, roller skates, fidget spinners)

Answer B is too vague
C will probably reduce efficiency greatly, but not specifically in a way that turns work into thermal energy.
D is the same as C, except that it places the blame on the person using the machine, not the machine itself.

Hope I helped clear it up for you :)
