The standard equation of a line is y = mx + b thus the final form of the resulting equation should be in this form. Parallel lines are lines with similar or equal slopes (same degree of inclination and direction) so the unknown equation of this line should have a slope of 1/10 as well. To use the point given, another equation form is to be used that is y-y1 = m(x-x1) where (x1,y1) is the point coordinate and m is the slope. Substituting,
y + 7 = 1/10 *(x-4)
Simplifying,
y +7 = 1/10 x - 2/5
y = 1/10 x - 37/5
Multiplying the overall equation by 10,
10 y = x - 74

Find the value of 2 in the isosceles triangle shown below.<br> 22<br> 6
Sergio [31]

Answer:

12

Step-by-step explanation:

This is how we find the area of a triangle: A=1/2b(h)

In other words, A=1/2 6(4)

So you could do 1/2 of 6 which is 3 times 4 which is 12

OR do 6 times 4 equals 24 in half would also get you 12

Point M (-3, 5) is translated using this rule. (x, y) ----&gt; (x - 1, y) What are the coordinates of M'?
Nuetrik [128]

Answer:

The coordinates of point M' are M'(x,y) = (-4, 5).

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the statement, we have the following translation rule:

M'(x,y) = M(x,y) + (-1, 0) (1)

Where:

M(x,y) - Original point.

M'(x,y) - Translated point.

(-1, 0) - Translation vector.

If we know that M(x,y) = (-3, 5), then the coordinates of the point M' are:

M'(x,y) = (-3,5) + (-1,0)

M'(x,y) = (-4, 5)

The coordinates of point M' are M'(x,y) = (-4, 5).

Determine which point is the solution to the given system.
KatRina [158]

Answer:

D

Step-by-step explanation:

We equate both the y's and solve for x algebraically:

-\frac{4}{7}x+16=-\frac{2}{7}x+12\\16-12=-\frac{2}{7}x+\frac{4}{7}x\\4=\frac{2}{7}x\\x=\frac{4}{\frac{2}{7}}\\x=14

Now taking the value x= 14 and putting it in the 1st equation would give us y:

y=-\frac{4}{7}x+16\\y=-\frac{4}{7}(14)+16\\y=8

Hence the solution is (14,8), answer is D
