For any point (x, y), that appears in one function, the point (y, x) must appear in the other function.
<span>For any point (x, y), that DOESN'T appear in one function, the point (y, x) must NOT appear in the other function. </span>
<span>So if you find any point that DOESN'T meet the above rules, you can prove that the functions are NOT inverses of each other. </span>

<span>But if you want to prove that they ARE inverses of each other, you have to check ALL points in the functions, and there are infinity of them, so that's not practical. Instead, you can write f(x) like this: </span>
<span>y = 3x - 5 </span>
<span>Now solve for x: </span>
<span>y + 5 = 3x </span>
<span>x = (y + 5) / 3 </span>
<span>Now swap x and y: </span>
<span>y = (x + 5) / 3 </span>
<span>This is the same as g(x). Therefore the functions are inverses of each other.</span>

Find the? inverse, if it? exists, for the given matrix.<br><br> [4 3]<br><br> [3 6]
True [87]

Answer:

Therefore, the inverse of given matrix is

=\begin{pmatrix}\frac{2}{5}&-\frac{1}{5}\\ -\frac{1}{5}&\frac{4}{15}\end{pmatrix}

Step-by-step explanation:

The inverse of a square matrix A is A^{-1} such that

A A^{-1}=I where I is the identity matrix.

Consider, A = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}4&3\\3&6\end{array}\right]

\mathrm{Matrix\:can\:only\:be\:inverted\:if\:it\:is\:non-singular,\:that\:is:}

\det \begin{pmatrix}4&3 \\3&6\end{pmatrix}\ne 0

\mathrm{Find\:2x2\:matrix\:inverse\:according\:to\:the\:formula}:\quad \begin{pmatrix}a\:&\:b\:\\ c\:&\:d\:\end{pmatrix}^{-1}=\frac{1}{\det \begin{pmatrix}a\:&\:b\:\\ c\:&\:d\:\end{pmatrix}}\begin{pmatrix}d\:&\:-b\:\\ -c\:&\:a\:\end{pmatrix}

=\frac{1}{\det \begin{pmatrix}4&3\\ 3&6\end{pmatrix}}\begin{pmatrix}6&-3\\ -3&4\end{pmatrix}

\mathrm{Find\:the\:matrix\:determinant\:according\:to\:formula}:\quad \det \begin{pmatrix}a\:&\:b\:\\ c\:&\:d\:\end{pmatrix}\:=\:ad-bc

4\cdot \:6-3\cdot \:3=15

=\frac{1}{15}\begin{pmatrix}6&-3\\ -3&4\end{pmatrix}

=\begin{pmatrix}\frac{2}{5}&-\frac{1}{5}\\ -\frac{1}{5}&\frac{4}{15}\end{pmatrix}

Therefore, the inverse of given matrix is

=\begin{pmatrix}\frac{2}{5}&-\frac{1}{5}\\ -\frac{1}{5}&\frac{4}{15}\end{pmatrix}

Ariel's desk weighs 53 kilograms. What is the weight of her desk in pounds? Round your
Lyrx [107]

Answer:

116.6 pounds

Step-by-step explanation:

Set up a proportion where x is the weight of her desk in pounds:

\frac{2.2}{1} = \frac{x}{53}

Cross multiply:

x = 116.6

So, her desk is 116.6 pounds

F(x)= -2x^2<br>what is the vertex of this and/or how do you find the vertex??
Doss [256]

Answer:

(0,0)

Step-by-step explanation:

x value of vertex = -b/2a

ax^2+bx+c

-2x^2+0x+0 sinc you have no value of b & c in your quadratic function

-b = 0

2a = (2)(-2)

-b/2a = (0/-4) = 0

x value of the vertex = 0

plug 0 in for all values of x in the function to find y coordinate value

-2(0)^2 = 0

(x,y) = (0,0)

Can someone help me how to solve this?
Assoli18 [71]

Answer:

x > -5  in the answer

Step-by-step explanation:

(5 - 3x) / 4 < 5

multiplying both sides by 4:-

5 - 3x < 20

-3x < 15

x > 15/-3

x > -5  (Note the inequality sign is flipped because we are dividing by a negative number)
