Y - 3 = 12 (x - 4)
y - 3 = 12x - 48
y = 12x - 45 is your answer

(edit)
y - 3 = 1/2 (x - 4)
y - 3 = 1/2x - 2
y = 1/2x + 1 is your answer

Write a real problem you could answer by solving the equation -8x+60=28
tankabanditka [31]
Bob found out that he can dig 8 inches down every minute. If he wants to put a 5 foot stick in the hole with 28 inches showing, how long does he have to dig?

(so to solve you convert 5 feet to 60 inches then do the equation -8x+60=28 then you add 8x to both sides, subtract 28 then divide by 8 leaving you with 4 minutes)

Can someone please explain this question
EleoNora [17]
Sure thing!

So if we look at the function, it is an exponential, meaning that it is a number to the power of x
The graph can be described by the equation

y = a^x

If we look at the graph, one of the points on the line is (2, 16), the x value is 2 and the y value is 16

If we consider this along with the function for the graph, we can say that

16 = a^2

Just solve this for a and you’ll have your answer :)

Kobotan [32]

Answer:

You have $10.600 Canadian dollars to spend.

Step-by-step explanation:

This problem can be solved by a rule of three.

In a rule of three problem, the first step is identifying the measures and how they are related, if their relationship is direct of inverse.

When the relationship between the measures is direct, as the value of one measure increases, the value of the other measure is going to increase too.

When the relationship between the measures is inverse, as the value of one measure increases, the value of the other measure will decrease.

In this problem, we have the following measures:

-The number of US dollars

-The number of Canadian dollars.

As the number of US dollars increases, so does the number of Canadian dollars, which means that the relationship between the measures is direct.

The problem states that $1 US dollar is $1.06 Canadian dollars. The problme wants to know how much $10000 is in Canadian dollars. So:

1 - 1.06

10000 - x

x = 10000*1.06

x = $10.600

You have $10.600 Canadian dollars to spend.

How do I solve this equation 10(x+2)>-2(6-9x)?
Norma-Jean [14]
Use distributive property for each side of the equation
1.) 10(x+2)>-2(6-9x)
2. 10x + 20> -12+18x

Then whatever you do to one side of the equation, you do to the other. So we’re trying to get x alone on one side.
Subtract 10x from each side
3.)20> -12 + 8x
Add 12 to each side
4.) 32>8x
Divide each side by 8 to get x alone
5.) 4 > x
