Are the statements about hydrogen bonding of the compound below with water true or false? this compound can act as a hydrogen-bo
Lyrx [107]
I searched for complete question (as your question is missing with structure) and found the structure of compound attached below.

Answer:
             The compound can neither act as a Hydrogen Bond Donor nor act as a Hydrogen Bond Acceptor.

Explanation:
                   For two compounds to build Hydrogen Bond Interactions it is compulsory that they must contain Hydrogen atoms which are directly attached to most electronegative atoms like Fluorine, Oxygen and Nitrogen.
                   As the given compound is 2-Butene (a non polar hydrocarbon), it lacks partial positive Hydrogen (which can act as Hydrogen Bond Donor) and a most electronegative element (F, O or N) which can act as Hydrogen Bond Acceptor. Therefore, this compound will not generate any Hydrogen Bonding with water molecules and will remain immiscible in it.

What is the total number of electrons in a S2– ion?
(1) 10 (3) 16
(2) 14 (4) 18
jeka57 [31]
Sulfur normally has 16 electrons (see the periodic table), but the 2- indicates that the atom is gaining 2 electrons. because of that, the answer would be 18.
hope this helped!

Which of the following are examples of plasma?
artcher [175]
The answers are "tails of comets, the ionosphere, and a neon sign." or options A, D, and E. Tails of comments are mainly made of plasma. Ice cubes are examples of a solid. A gas fire key word gas is example of a gas. The ionosphere is also mainly made of plasma. A neon sign uses plasma in order to work. A flashlight uses a light bulb which isn't a example of plasma therefore thats a no.

Hope this helps!

What amount of acid is esterified if a mixture consist initially of 1.0mole of ethanoic acid,1.0mole of ethanol and 1.0mole of w
ale4655 [162]

Answer:

0.54 mole

Explanation:

                                     CH3COOH    CH3CH2OH   CH3COOCH2CH3    H2O

Initial concentration   1.0 mole         1.0 mole                0 mole                  1.0mol

Change                          - x                   - x                      + x                          + x

Equilibrium                   (1.0 - x)          (1.0 - x)                   x                       (1.0 + x)

K = [CH3COOCH2CH3]*[H2O]/[CH3COOH]*[CH3CH2OH]

x*(1.0+x)/(1.0-x)(1.0-x) = 4.0

x+x²=4*(1-x)²

x+x² = 4(1² - 2x + x²)

x + x² = 4 - 8x + 4x²

4 - 8x + 4x²- x² - x= 0

3x² - 9x + 4 = 0

x=2.5 , x=0.54

2.5 mole of acid cannot be esterified, because there is only 1.0 mole of acid,

so answer is 0.54 mole.
