<u>Answer-:</u>

Preserving the biodiversity of Earth is important because biodiversity increases the efficiency of ecosystems where every species, no matter how small, has an important role to play. A greater number of species of plants means a larger range of crops. Greater diversity of organisms guarantees ecological survival for all lifeforms

<u>Explanation: </u>

<u>REASONS WHY PRESERVATION OF THE EARTH'S BIODIVERSITY IS IMPORTANT-</u>

  1. <u> ECOSYSTEM PRODUCTIVITY </u>- One of the key reasons we should continue to concentrate on biodiversity protection is that it helps to improve the efficiency of the ecosystem. Naturally, a properly working ecosystem would be more immune to extreme environmental factors, such as climate change.
  2. <u>HEALTH DETECTIONS -</u>The vast number of medical advances waiting to be made is one of the most significant reasons why we should continue working on saving biodiversity. To develop new cancer therapies and more, scientists use observations of plants , animals, and even microbes. As a matter of fact, all human drugs must first be tested before being tested on humans in laboratory animals. This is essential for determining their toxicity, dosing, as well as effectiveness. In some of the most remote sections of the planet, many of the animals used in these discoveries are also included.
  3.  <u>Recreation and Natural Beauty - </u> The value of natural beauty is another great explanation why we should continue focusing on protecting biodiversity. There are several historical sites around the country that need to be preserved to maintain their status for future generations to enjoy, such as the redwood forest.  These trees regularly have a lifespan of 600 years in the case of the redwoods. Some are as old as 2,000, too. Their growth is extremely sluggish, however. Wild and natural environments provide ways to get away from urban environments. In addition, people can enjoy outdoor activities such as bird watching, canoeing, hiking, and photography of nature.
  4. <u>  The Ecosystem 'Survival -</u>  With a few exceptions, to survive, each species on Earth relies on the services of other species. This partnership is part of the idea of what an ecosystem is. The relationship between soil, plants , and bacteria is a pertinent example. This is known as the period of nitrogen. Other examples which are important include -: Animal waste which nourishes the soil,   Crops also produce straw, which is an animal food source,   As natural nitrogen fixers, algae represent and    Aerate the soil with rats.
  5. <u>Economic Benefits  -:</u> Many advantages have been provided to humans through biodiversity, and many come in the form of products. These products are extracted and sold, and everything from crops to medicines is included.

Hence, preservation of the biodiversity of Earth is important from all aspects of life.

Two students are given cubic boxes, measuring 10 cm on a side. Robert puts a single glass marble with a
Katyanochek1 [597]

Answer:

Both boxes have the same amount of empty space

Explanation:

Given

Cube Box

Length = 10cm

Robert:

1 glass marble

Diameter = 10cm

Susan:

1000 glass marble

Diameter = 1cm

Required

Whose box has more empty space?

First, we need to calculate the volume of the cubic box.

Volume = Length^3

Substitute 10cm for Length

Volume = 10^3

Volume = 1000cm^3

Next, calculate the volume of Robert's glass

Volume is calculated as:

Volume = \frac{4}{3}\pi r^3 ---- Volume of a sphere

Where

r = radius

r = \frac{1}{2} * Diameter

Diameter = 10cm --- Given

Substitute 10 for diameter

r = \frac{1}{2} * 10cm

r = 5cm

So:

Volume = \frac{4}{3}\pi r^3

Volume = \frac{4}{3} * \frac{22}{7} * 5^3

Volume = \frac{4}{3} * \frac{22}{7} * 125

Volume = 523.8cm^3

Next, we determine the volume of Susan's 1000 glasses

Volume is calculated as:

Volume = \frac{4}{3}\pi r^3 ---- Volume of a sphere

Where

r = radius

r = \frac{1}{2} * Diameter

Diameter = 1cm --- Given

Substitute 1cm for diameter

r = \frac{1}{2} * 1cm

r = 0.5cm

Substitute 0.5cm for radius in Volume = \frac{4}{3}\pi r^3

Volume = \frac{4}{3} * \frac{22}{7} * 0.5^3

Volume = \frac{4}{3} * \frac{22}{7} * 0.125

Volume = 0.5238

But there are 1000 glasses.

So, the volume of 1000 glasses is:

Volume = 0.5238 * 1000

Volume = 523.8cm^3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For Robert:

Volume = 523.8cm^3

For Susan:

Volume = 523.8cm^3

Since, they have the same volume.

Both boxes have the same amount of empty space
