Remember the formula for molarity:

molarity =  \frac{moles}{volume}
Where the volume is in liters.

From here, it's a "plug and chug" type of question.

They give you the molarity: 0.45M
They give you the volume: 600mL
Remember that there are 1000mL in every liter, so the converted volume is 0.6L.

Plug in what you have:
0.45 =  \frac{moles}{0.6}
To find moles, you need to multiply 0.45 by 0.6, which gives you 0.270 moles.

With moles you can find grams by multiplying 0.270 moles by the molar mass of the compound.

Hope that helps!

List three ways that energy could be lost between water and food
larisa [96]

Work allows energy to be transferred from one object to another. To do work, an agent must exert a force on an object over a long distance.

When work is done, energy is transferred from the agent to the object, resulting in a change in the motion of the object (more specifically, a change in the object's kinetic energy).

What is energy?

Energy is essential to human society and has numerous health benefits. However, each energy source poses some health risks. This article examines the health consequences of each major source of energy, focusing on those with the greatest global impact on disease burden. The harvesting and burning of solid fuels, coal, and biomass have the greatest health consequences, primarily in the form of occupational health risks and household and general ambient air pollution. In the world's poorest households, a lack of access to clean fuels and electricity poses a particularly serious health risk. Although energy efficiency has many advantages, energy use is essential to human society and has numerous health benefits.

What is the purpose of adding 0. 1% agar to the trypticase nitrate broth when conducting the nitrate reduction test?.
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

Agar is used to assist establish an anaerobic environment that promotes nitrate reduction.

Nitrate Reduction test:

  • The nitrate in the broth is converted to nitrite by organisms that can produce the nitrate reductase enzyme, which can then be further converted to nitric oxide, nitrous oxide, or nitrogen.
  • Anaerobic respiration and denitrification are two processes that can convert nitrate to a variety of compounds.
  • While denitrification only reduces nitrate to molecular nitrogen, anaerobic respiration employs nitrate as the bacterium's final electron acceptor, reducing it to a range of chemicals.
  • The nitrate reduction test is based on the detection of nitrite and its capacity to produce a red precipitate (prontosil), which is a water-soluble azo dye, when it combines with sulfanilic acid to create a complex (nitrite-sulfanilic acid).
