<span>Alcohol is a more broader sense of classification including alkanols, arenols, benzyl alcohols, allyl phenols, alkenols, phenols, etc. Alkanols as one classification are compounds of ttype R-OH, where R is any alkyl group such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl, etc. Hence, alkanol is an alcohol but not all alcohols are alkanol.</span>

A chemist measures the energy change ?H during the following reaction: 2HgO (s) ?2Hg (l) +O2 (g) =?H182.kJ Use the information t
Elan Coil [88]

Answer:

A. endothermic.

A. Yes, absorbed.

Explanation:

Let's consider the following thermochemical equation.

2 HgO(s) ⇒ 2 Hg(l) + O₂(g)  ΔH = 182 kJ

The enthalpy of the reaction is positive (ΔH > 0), which means that the reaction is endothermic.

182 kJ are absorbed when 2 moles of HgO react (molar mass 216.59 g/mol). The heat absorbed when 72.8 g of HgO react is:

72.8g.\frac{1mol}{216.59g} .\frac{182kJ}{2mol} =30.6kJ/mol

A gas starts at a volume of 23 L and a pressure of 1.23 atm. What is the new pressure if you
Anna71 [15]

Answer:

<h2>1.89 atm</h2>

Explanation:

The new volume can be found by using the formula for Boyle's law which is

P_1V_1 = P_2V_2

Since we are finding the new volume

V_2 =  \frac{P_1V_1}{P_2}  \\

From the question we have

V_2 =  \frac{1.23 \times 23}{15}  =  \frac{28.29}{15}  \\  = 1.886

We have the final answer as

<h3>1.89 atm</h3>

Hope this helps you
