The Navigation Acts The first of these was passed in 1651, with the primary rule that no goods grown or manufactured in Africa,

the Americas, or Asia could be brought into England except in English vessels. Additionally, goods from any European country imported into England must be brought in British ships or in the ships of the country that produced them. In 1660, a more infamous part of this act was passed. It forbade importing goods into or exporting goods out of the British colonies unless British ships were used in the process. Additionally, certain products such as cotton, sugar, & tobacco could not be shipped to any country except England or to another English colony. According to the passage, which of these choices would have been ILLEGAL in the late 1600s? A) A farmer in Georgia trades food goods with a shipbuilder in Massachusetts. B) A merchant in the Maryland Colony unloads fur from a Spanish ship in exchange for corn. C) A trader in London purchases wine directly off of a ship from the southern coast of France. D) A planter in the Virginia Colony trades tobacco to a South Carolina plantation owner for cotton.

The correct answer is <span>B: A merchant in the Maryland Colony unloads fur from a Spanish ship in exchange for corn.

The passage states multiple times that only British ships were to be involved during the import/export process. Using a Spanish ship would be illegal according to the Navigation Acts.

Before finally making the decision to enter the war, President Wilson tried to keep the United States neutral. He even tried to
Salsk061 [2.6K]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The suggestions that I think he might have made to the two sides if he had gotten them together to discuss a peace treaty would have been the following.

First, I would have recommended US President Woodrow Wilson to tell both sides of the conflict to meet at a neutral site; in this case, I would have invited them to New York City.

Then, President Wilson would open a series of meetings and negotiations letting the European countries know the kind of suffering, pain, and damage the war would produce to each and every country involved. President Wilson could show a forecast of the possible consequences.

Finally, showing the moral authority of the US at that time, he could have invited both sides to leave their expansionist interests and leave the occupied territories and stop the threats of invasion. This could have been a good-will sign to move on with diplomatic agreements.

Explain how the labor force in the Second Industrial Revolution compared to the labor force in the First Industrial Revolution.
Thepotemich [5.8K]

During the first industrial revolution, the affected nations moved from a rural economy, based on agriculture and trade, to an urban, industrialized, mechanized, simplified and, thus, overcrowded economy. In 1800 it was possible to have a sustained growth of wealth that allowed the transition to a wide use of innovative machines, especially in transport and work, abandoning animal traction and production based on manual labor.

During the second industrial revolution The exponential development of railways, while structuring a new model of international trade based on the specialized production of each country and the exchange of materials from standardized prices, also enabled huge migratory movements, like boiler boats that even transported large masses of people on intercontinental trips, as was the case of the 55 million Europeans who migrated to North America between 1850 and 1940.

The cause of the great migrations during the second industrial revolution was, mainly, the tremendous demographic growth that there was in Europe during the eighteenth century, which in turn had different causes.
