You must be aware of the your beliefs, personal values, and biases and also that of your clients (others)

As a nurse, you do not want to worsen the health situation of your client because of what you say or because of your actions, hence it is required that nurses are culturally competent to handle clients. There are three major cultural competences of nurses which are required to provide culturally competent nursing care. The first being; understanding the culture of your client in order to understand the difference in cultures, awareness of beliefs, values, and biases of self, as well as that of others. These are the three cultural competences required of nurses.
