WATER TOWER One of the largest sphere water towers in the country is located in Edmond, Oklahoma. It is 218 feet tall and holds

500,000 gallons, or about 66,840 cubic feet of water. Another town is planning to build a similar water tower. However, the new water tower will hold 3 5 as much water as the tower in Edmond. Determine the radius of the new water tower to the nearest foot.

Answer: The radius of the new water tower is approximately 21 ft^3

Step-by-step explanation:

  So we know the volume  of the Water Tower is 66840 ft^3   and the new one's volume will hold 3/5 as much.  so you will multiply  66840 by 3/5 to find the volume of the new one.

66840 * 3/5 = 40104   so the new water tower will hold 40104 cubic feet of water.

Now to find the radius we will use the formula  v= 4/3\pir^3

40104 =  4/3 * \pi* r^3

 40104=  4.1887* r^3

r= 21

Mr. Jackson invested a sum of money at 6% per year, and 3 times as much at 4%
bogdanovich [222]

Mr. Jackson invested $800 at 6% per year and $ 2400  at 4 % per year

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Mr. Jackson invested a sum of money at 6% per year, and 3 times as much at 4% per year.

Let the sum invested be ‘a’ and ‘3a’ at 6% per year and 4 % per year respectively

Also, his annual return totaled $144

We can form following equation on the basis of question:-

\begin{array}{l}{\text { Then, } \frac{a \times 6 \times 1}{100}+\frac{3 a \times 4 \times 1}{100}=\$ 144} \\\\ {\frac{6 a}{100}+\frac{12 a}{100}=144} \\\\ {\frac{6 a+12 a}{100}=144} \\\\ {\frac{18 a}{100}=144} \\\\ {18 a=14400} \\\\ {a=14400 \div 18}\end{array}

a = $800

The amount of money invested at 6% = a = 800

The amount of money invested at 4 % = 3a = 3(800) = 2400

So, the amount of money invested at 6% is $800 and the amount of money invested at 4% is $ 2400
