Their relative speed is the sum of 60 and 40 or 100km/hr. They will travel the 150km in 1.5 hrs.<span>When two object approach each other, the closing speed is just the sum of the speeds, therefore, the closing speed is your case is 100kph. </span>

<span>Just take the distance of 150 km and divide by 100 to get 1.5 hours </span>

<span>checking: </span>

<span>the car going 60 will have traveled 60*1.5 = 90 km </span>
<span>the car going 40 will have traveled 40*1.5 = 60 km </span>

<span>the sum of the distances = 90+60 = 1.5 hours </span>

<span>So they will meet in 1.5 hours.</span>

A small object carrying a charge of -4.00 nC is acted upon by a downward force of 19.0 nN when placed at a certain point in an e
Gala2k [10]

Explanation:

Given that,

Charge acting on the object, q=-4\ nC=-4\times 10^{-9}\ C

Force acting on the object, F=19\ nC=19\times 10^{-9}\ C (in downward direction)

(a) The electric force acting in the electric field is given by :

F=qE

E is the electric field

E=\dfrac{F}{q}

E=\dfrac{19\times 10^{-9}\ N}{4\times 10^{-9}\ C}

E = 4.75 N/C

The direction of electric field is as same as electric force. But it is negative charge. So, the direction of electric field is in upward direction.

(b) The charge on the proton is, q=1.6\times 10^{-19}\ C

The force acting on the proton is :

F=qE

F=1.6\times 10^{-19}\times 4.75

F=7.6\times 10^{-19}\ N

If the charge on the proton is positive, the force on the proton is in upward direction.

Hence, this is the required solution.

In the aftermath of an intense earthquake, the earth as a whole "rings" with a period of 54 minutes.
lawyer [7]

The frequency of the oscillation in hertz is calculated to be 0.00031 Hz.

The frequency of a wave is defined as the number of cycles completed per second while the period refers to the time taken to complete a cycle. The frequency is the inverse of period.

So;

Period(T) = 54 minutes or 3240 seconds

Frequency (f) = T-1 = 1/T = 1/3240 seconds = 0.00031 Hz

A 2.0 kg block is given an initial speed of 8.0 m/s up an incline plane of angle 30° where the coefficient of friction is 0.35.
Korvikt [17]

Answer:

4.1 m

Explanation:

Given :

Mass of the block = m = 2 kg.

Initial velocity = v_{i} = 8 m/s

Angle of the incline = α = 30°

Coefficient of friction = μ = 0.35

Distance moved up the incline is calculated using the work energy theorem.

Work done by the net force =  change in kinetic energy of the object.

Net work = work done by friction + work done by the gravity component.

(- mg sin 30 - μ mg cos 30 ) d = 1/2m v_{f}^{2} - 1/2 m v_{i}^{2}

m cancels out when divided on both sides with m.

- [(9.8 sin 30 - ( 0.35  × 9.8 × cos 30) ] d = 1/2 ( 0² - 8² )

⇒ -7.87 d = -32

⇒ Distance traveled up the incline = d = 4.0658 m = 4.1 m
