Their relative speed is the sum of 60 and 40 or 100km/hr. They will travel the 150km in 1.5 hrs.When two object approach each other, the closing speed is just the sum of the speeds, therefore, the closing speed is your case is 100kph.

Just take the distance of 150 km and divide by 100 to get 1.5 hours

checking:

the car going 60 will have traveled 60*1.5 = 90 km
the car going 40 will have traveled 40*1.5 = 60 km

the sum of the distances = 90+60 = 1.5 hours

So they will meet in 1.5 hours.

A 0.15 kg mass is suspended from a vertical spring and descends a distance of 4.6 cm, after which it hangs at rest. An additiona
ch4aika [34]

Answer:

The total extension = 19.9 cm

Work done in stretching the spring through both displacement = 0.633 J.

Explanation:

From Hook's law,

F = ke .................................... Equation 1.

Where F = force or weight, k = force constant of the spring, e = extension.

making k the subject of the equation,

k = F/e .......................... Equation 2

Given: F = W = mg = 0.15(9.8) = 1.47 N, e = 4.6 cm = 0.046 m.

k = 1.47/0.046

k = 31.96 N/m.

When an additional mass of 0.5 kg is suspended,

Total mass suspended(M₁) = 0.15+0.5 = 0.65 kg

Total Weight (W₁) = 0.65(9.8) = 6.37 N.

k = 31.96 N/m

Substituting into equation 1

6.37 = 31.96e

e = 6.37/31.96

e = 0.199 m

e = 19.9 cm

Thus the total extension = 19.9 cm

a.

Work done in stretching the spring through both displacement

W = 1/2ke²..................... Equation 3

Where W = work done, k = spring constant, e = extension.

Given: k = 31.96 N/m, e = 0.199 m

Substituting into equation 3

W = 1/2(31.96)(0.199)²

W = 0.633 J.

the goat weighs 900 N and is 1 meter from the fulcrum. The strongman pulls down on the lever 3 meters from the fulcrum. What is
garik1379 [7]

Answer: The smallest effort = 300N

Explanation:

Using one of the condition for the attainment of equilibrium:

Clockwise moment = anticlockwise moments

900 × 1 = 3 × M

Where M = the weight of the strong man

3M = 900

M = 900/3 = 300N

Therefore, 300N is the smallest effort that the strongman can use to lift the goat

Which fundamental force is very strong across a short distance?
lesya692 [45]

B. Strong nuclear

Because the strong nuclear force is the strongest at short distances, it dominates over the other forces and the two protons become bound, forming a helium nucleus (typically a neutron is also needed to keep the helium nucleus stable).

A virtual image formed by a concave mirror is always enlarged. O True O False
Dmitry [639]

Answer:

True

Explanation:

A concave mirror produces real and inverted image when object placed at different locations beyond focus of the mirror.

A concave mirror produces virtual and erect and magnified image when an object placed between focus and the pole of the mirror.
