In this passage, we learn that Marguerite is embarrassed of how the dress she is wearing is being shown to Mrs. Flowers. The dress is being taken off of her very quickly and with no concern for her feelings. She describes feeling how it went over her head and arms. Nevertheless, we learn that Mrs. Flowers shares her embarrassment, or is at least concerned with Marguerite's feelings. We learn this because Mrs. Flowers asks Mrs. Henderson to stop, saying she does not need to see the inside.
