Who benefits from an import-substitution strategy? who is harmed?
Aloiza [94]

Answer:

Import substitution industrialization (ISI) is a trade and economic policy which advocates replacing foreign imports with domestic production. Domestic consumers benefit from import substitution as they do not have to face strong competition from foreign competitors and can sell their goods at a higher price. So for example manufacturers in USA sell a battery from $10 but consumers from USA have the option to import that battery at $7 from China the US manufacturers wont be able to compete as Chinese companies have lower cost of production therefore they can sell cheaper and in order to protect the local manufacturers the government may use an ISI strategy to help the local manufacturers. On the other hand consumers are harmed from this strategy as they cannot buy the cheaper product because of change in government strategy. So consumers who were buying the battery at $7 not have to buy it at $10.

The objectives of U.S. monetary policy are to achieve ______.
SSSSS [86.1K]

Answer:

A. maximum employment and stable prices

Explanation:

The Fed has various roles. Among its key objectives is to monitor the economy to ensure maximum sustainable economic growth. To achieve this growth, the Fed uses different monetary tools to regulate inflation and influence unemployment levels.

The Fed receives economic data from other government agencies that help it determine the appropriate cause of action. For example, if the bureau of labor statistics reports a high level of unemployment, it could mean the economy is slowing down. The Fed then applies expansionary policies to stimulate growth. If inflation is low or very high, it affects price stability. The Fed has tools to regulate inflation.

Break Even Analysis 1. A USB thumb drive production line will have $240,000 fixed costs variable costs per unit of $1.97. Each u
melomori [17]

Answer:

Instructions are below.

Explanation:

Giving the following information:

Fixed costs= $240,000

Unitary variable cost= $1.97

Selling price per unit= $4.97.

First, we need to calculate the break-even point in units:

Break-even point in units= fixed costs/ contribution margin per unit

Break-even point in units= 240,000 / (4.97 - 1.97)

Break-even point in units= 80,000 units

The break-even point analysis provides information regarding the number of units to be sold to cover for the fixed and variable costs.

If the forecasted sales are 120,000, this means that the company will cover costs and make a profit. The margin of safety is 40,000 units.

If there are 10 plants producing the total domestic consumption of a product and each plant is operating at minimum efficient sc
tatiyna

Answer:

The correct answer is B. If there are 10 plants producing the total domestic consumption of a product and each plant is operating at minimum efficient scale, then each plant accounts for 10 percent of domestic consumption.

Explanation:

It is understood that the total consumption of a product is 100% of it. Therefore, as long as there are 10 plants that, producing at a minimum efficiency scale on an equal basis, cover this total consumption, the percentage of consumption that each plant produces will be 10%.

This is so because 100/10 = 10, provided that it is considered that the production is carried out equitably between each of the production plants.
