The function is:

f ( x ) = x² - x - 72

This is a quatdratic function. So we can find the zeroes of the function with the formula:

x 1/2 = ( - b +/- √(b² - 4 ac) ) / ( 2a )

And we have: a = 1, b = - 1 and c = - 72

x 1/2 = ( 1 +/- √((-1)² - 4 · 1· ( - 72 )) ) / 2

x 1/2 = ( 1 +/- √( 1 + 288 ) ) / 2

x 1/2 = ( 1 +/- √289 ) / 2

x 1/2 = ( 1 +/- 17 ) / 2

x 1 = ( 1 - 17 ) 2 = - 16 / 2 = - 8

x 2 = ( 1 + 17 ) / 2 = 18 / 2 = 9

Answer: The zeroes are - 8 and 9.

explain how to use missing pieces strategy to compare two fractions. include a diagram with your explanation
Artemon [7]

<span>The missing pieces strategy is another method to compare two fractions. To tell which number is larger, you ned to see which one is missing less. For example you have ¾ versus 4/5. Each of these fraction needs 1 to complete the whole. You need to subtract the numerator with one to compare them. For ¾ we have ¼ and for 4/5 we have 1/5. You know that if you complete 4/5 you will get 5 and for ¾ you will get 4. You know that 5 is greater than four. Therefore, 4/5 is larger than ¾.</span>

A scientist is working with 14 meters of gold wire. How long will the wire be in millimeters?
Tcecarenko [31]
In a meter there are 100 cm.
In 100 cm there are 1000 mm.

Therefore in 1 meter you have 1000 millimeters.

Then to find out how many millimeters you have in 14 meters, you just multiply 14 by 1000 to give you 14000 mm.

Final answer= 14 m of gold wire is the equivalent to 14000 mm of wire.

Alina [70]
Answer is a for both questions
x^2=75
Inverse of squared is square root.  x= \sqrt{75}
x= \sqrt{25*3}
x=5 \sqrt{3}

x^3=16
x= \sqrt[3]{2*2*2*2}  prime factorization of 16
x=2 \sqrt[3]{2}   a set of 3 comes out as one number...i.e. 2

Answer:

Normally distributed with a mean zero.

Step-by-step explanation:

In multiple regression analysis, residuals \left ( Y-\hat{Y} \right ) should be Normally distributed with a mean zero.

               In general, multiple regression is a technique to find more about the connection between many independent variables and dependent variables. It is simple a modern approach of a simple linear regression.
