When establishing the sequence of events in a story an author would NOT use the word FOREVER. Instead, the writer can use the words "now, later, or tomorrow".
Events in a story are usually organized for the reader to follow them easily. In order to organize said events, it is useful to resort to the already mentioned expressions.
The word "forever" (because of its meaning) is not suitable to establish a period of time.
