10. For the equation 3x – 4 = 8, which
irga5000 [103]

Answer:

x  = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

We can find the answer to this by solving the equation:

3x - 4 = 8

3x - 4 + 4 = 8 + 4

3x = 12

x  = 4

If f(1) = 0, what are all the roots of the function f(x)=x^3+3x^2-x-3? Use the Remainder Theorem.
Sophie [7]
There's no if about it,

f(x)=x^3+3x^2-x-3

has a zero f(1)=0 so x-1 is a factor.   That's the special case of the Remainder Theorem; since f(1)=0 we'll get a remainder of zero when we divide f(x) by x-1.

At this point we can just divide or we can try more little numbers in the function.  It doesn't take too long to discover f(-1)=0 too, so  x+1 is a factor too by the remainder theorem.  I can find the third zero as well; but let's say that's out of range for most folks.

So far we have

x^3+3x^2-x-3 = (x-1)(x+1)(x-r)

where r is the zero we haven't guessed yet.  Again we could divide f(x) by (x-1)(x+1)=x^2-1 but just looking at the constant term we must have

-3 = -1 (1)(-r) = r

so

x^3+3x^2-x-3 = (x-1)(x+1)(x+3)

We check f(-3)=(-3)^3+3(-3)^2 -(-3)-3 = 0 \quad\checkmark

We usually talk about the zeros of a function and the roots of an equation; here we have a function f(x) whose zeros are

x=1, x=-1, x=-3

PLZZ HELP I’m bad at math.
ipn [44]

Answer:

y<\frac{-1}{3}x+1 is inequality shown on graph.

Step-by-step explanation:

The graph shows representation of inequality,

Here, Line passes through points say, A(3,0) and B(0,1)

The slope of line is given by m=\frac{Y2-Y1}{X2-X1}

m=\frac{Y2-Y1}{X2-X1}

m=\frac{1-0}{0-3}

m=\frac{-1}{3}

and Y-intercept is c=1

The equation of line is given by y=mx+c

y=\frac{-1}{3}x+1 is equation of line in graph.

To decide which side you are going to shaded area on the graph

Take test of origin.

If (0,0) is statisfy the equation then, shaded the graph towards the origin.

Let suppose,

Take, y<\frac{-1}{3}x+1

0<\frac{-1}{3}(0)+1

0<1

TRUE,

Therefore, y<\frac{-1}{3}x+1 is inequality shown on graph.

HELP ASAP PLEASE!!!
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

The range is the y values of the function from the least to the greatest. To find it find the furthest point up and down. Draw a horizontal line from the point to the y-axis to identify the y value. Here the function extends from -3 to 6. So the range is -3\leq y\leq 6.
