In one hour, Sally can paint 1/99 of the room.
In one hour, Steve can paint 1/44 of the room.
Working together for one hour they can paint the following fraction of the room:
\frac{1}{99}+\frac{1}{44}=\frac{4+9}{396}=\frac{13}{396}
Therefore, working together, they would take 396/13 = 30.46 hours to paint the room.
The answer is: 30.46 hours.
