To build a bookshelf, Timothy needs to buy four pieces of wood and $26 worth of brackets. He has a budget of $85. To figure out

the maximum price that each piece of wood could cost, Timothy used the equation shown, where w is the maximum price of each piece of wood.
85=26+4w
Select two of the following steps and reasons that can be used to solve this equation.
A. Step 1 is to divide both sides by 4 to determine the cost for each of the four pieces of wood before buying the brackets.
B. Step 2 is to add 26 to both sides of the equation because Timothy will need to spend $26 in addition to the $85 that he budgeted for.
C. Step 2 is to divide both sides of the equation by 4 to determine the amount of money available for each piece of wood.
D. Step 1 is to subtract 4 from both sides of the equation because there are 4 pieces
of wood that are needed
E. Step 1 is to subtract 26 from both sides of the equation to determine how much money is left for the four pieces of wood.

Given the equation 85=26+4w, where w stands for price of single wood piece. And 26$ is the brackets cost.

First we need to find the remaining money we have to buy 4 pieces of wood.

Then only we can find the price of single wood piece by dividing with 4.

That means to find w, first we need to find 4w from 26+4w=85.

So to get rid of 26 on left side since we have it added, we have to subtract 26 from both sides.

Hence the correct option is E, which is to subtract 26 to get money left for four pieces of wood.

Test the hypothesis using the P-value approach. Be sure to verify the requirements of the test. Upper H 0: pequals0.6 versus U
kow [346]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

From the given information:

The null and the alternative hypothesis can be well written as:

H_o:P=0.6

H_1:P>0.6

Given that:

n = 200

x = 135

Alpha ∝ = 0.05 level of significance

Then;

⇒ n \times p\times (1-P)

= 200 × 0.6 × (1 -0.6)

= 200 × 0.6 × 0.4

= 48 ≥ 10

The sample proportion \hat P = \dfrac{x}{n}

= \dfrac{135}{200}

= 0.675

The test statistics Z = \dfrac{\hat P - P}{\sqrt{ \dfrac{P(1-P)}{n} }}

Z = \dfrac{0.675 - 0.6}{\sqrt{ \dfrac{0.6 \times 0.4}{200} }}

Z = \dfrac{0.075}{\sqrt{ \dfrac{0.24}{200} }}

Z = 2.165

The P-value = P(Z > 2.165)

= 1 - P(Z < 2.165)

From the z tables

= 1 - 0.9848

= 0.0152

Reject the null hypothesis since P-Value is lesser than alpha. ( i.e. 0.0152 < 0.05).

Thus, there is enough evidence to conclude that the value of the population proportion is greater than 0.6
