Answer: The given statement is false.

Explanation:

As it is known that bromine is more electronegative in nature than a carbon atom.

So in a C-Br bond, bromine being more elctronegative will attract the electrons from carbon atom more towards itself. Hence, bromine will obtain a partial negative charge and carbon will obtain a partial positive charge.

Thus, we can conclude that the statement in a C-Br bond, the carbon has a partial negative charge, is false.

Yes its True. If we consider the electronegativity difference of Carbon and Bromine it is,

                            E.N of Bromine =  2.96

                            E.N of Carbon   =  2.55
                                                        _________

                             E.N difference  =  0.41

As the E.N difference is greater than 0.4 so this bond is slightly polar. And Bromine more electronegative than carbon will attract the electrons density towards itself making carbon partial positive, and itself partial negative.

What is the mass of 19.5 moles of carbon dioxide?
Olenka [21]

Explanation:

mass = moles * molar mass

molar mass of carbon dioxide (CO2) = 12+32 = 44

= 19.5* 44 = 858

proof

moles = mass /molar mass

= 858/44 = 19.5 moles
