<u><em>What is Combining Like Terms?</em></u>

Combining like terms is a mathematical process used to simplify an expression or to add or subtract polynomials.

<u>How to Combine Like Terms (Simplified):</u>

remove parentheses by multiplying factors.

use exponent rules to remove parentheses in terms with exponents.

combine like terms by adding coefficients.

combine the constants.

 <u>Example: </u>                                           <u>Explanation:</u>

3x and -8x^2               Unlike terms - the exponents are different

Answer:

Combining like terms is a mathematical process used to simplify an expression or to add or subtract polynomials.

Step-by-step explanation:

How do I combine like terms?

1. Step 2: Combine the coefficients.

2. 5h + 11g + 1h - 8g.

3. (5 + 1)h + (11 - 8)g.

4. 6h + 3g.

5. Step 1: Organize your like terms.

6. 5x + 8x + 10x2 - 7x2 - 4x.

7. Step 2: Combine the coefficients. (5 + 8 - 4)x + (10 - 7)x2 9x + 3x2

Solve for n<br> 2/5n+3-7/10n=3/5-3n
LuckyWell [14K]
<h2>The answer is "-\frac{8}{9} \\\\".</h2>

Given:

\to \frac{2}{5}n+3-\frac{7}{10}n=\frac{3}{5}-3n

To find:

n=?

Solution:

\to \frac{2}{5}n+3-\frac{7}{10}n=\frac{3}{5}-3n\\\\\to \frac{2}{5}n-\frac{7}{10}n+3n=\frac{3}{5} -3\\\\\to n(\frac{4-7+30}{10})=\frac{3-15}{5} \\\\\to n(\frac{-3+30}{10})=\frac{3-15}{5} \\\\\to n(\frac{27}{10})=\frac{-12}{5} \\\\\to n=\frac{-12}{5} \times \frac{10}{27} \\\\\to n=-4 \times \frac{2}{9} \\\\\to n=-\frac{8}{9} \\\\

Therefore, the final answer of n is "-\frac{8}{9} \\\\".

A fair coin is tossed repeatedly. What is the probability that three heads in a row will occur before a tail followed by two hea
Masteriza [31]

The probability that you can get N heads in a row would be:

Let <span>p</span> be the probability of flipping a heads. Let <span>x</span> be number of flips needed to achieve <span>h </span>consecutive heads. The solution is <span><span>E(x) = (<span><span>1−<span>p^h) / (</span></span><span><span>p^h</span>(1−p))</span></span></span></span>

This expression may be derived as follows. The probability of being successful immediately is <span><span>p^r.</span></span> However, one might get a tails immediately. In that case, the number of flips needed is <span><span>1+E(x) </span></span>(one flip has been used and we are back to the original position). We might get a heads and then a tails. In this case two flips have been used and we are back to the original position. Continue this up to <span><span>h−1</span></span> heads followed by a tails in which case <span>h</span> flips have been used and we are back to the original position.
