Ted is a long distance driver. It took him 30 min longer to drive 275km on the Trans-Canada highway west of Swift Current, Saska

tchewan, than it took him to drive 300km east of Swift Current. He averaged 10km/h less while travelling west of Swift Current due to more severe snow conditions. What was Ted's average speed for each part of the trip?

Speed traveling west = x - 10 km /hr

275 / ( x-10) - 300 / x = 1/2

275 *2x - 300 (x-10)*2 = ( x-10) *x

550x - 600x +6000 = x^2 -10x

x^2 +40x - 6000 = 0

( x -60) ( x+100) = 0

x = 60

ANSWER East = 60 km/ hr West = 50 km /hr

CHECK

300 /60 = 5 hours

275 /50 = 5.5 hours

Describe how to write 7,594,000,000 in scientific notation. Complete the description. First move the decimal point places to the
s2008m [1.1K]

Step-by-step explanation:

The given number is 7,594,000,000.

To convert it into scientific notation,

First move the decimal point places to the left to find a number that is greater than or equal to 1 and less than 10. Then multiply by 10 , using an exponent on 10 that equals the number of places you moved the decimal. The exponent is negative if the original no was <1 and the exponent is positive, if the original number was  > 1.

In 7,594,000,000, we move the decimal point places to the left before 5. It means we have moved 9 digits left.

Hence, 7,594,000,000=7.59\times 10^9 is the scientific notation.

Can someone help me with this, please? I'm not sure how to solve this.
bazaltina [42]

Answer:

11.) 10w^2 + 43w + 21.

12.) -15y^2 - 2y + 8

Check the explanation for details

Step-by-step explanation:

11.) You are meant to multiply each row by both columns. For instance, multiply 5w by 2w and 7 you will get 10 w^2 and 35 w

Also, multiply 3 by both 2w and 7 you will get 6w and 21. Therefore,

Expansion of ( 5w + 3 )( 2w + 7 ) will produce 10w^2 + 37w + 6w + 21

= 10w^2 + 43w + 21.

12.) Repeat the same process by multiplying row by column.

Multiply -3y by 5y and 4 you will get -15y^2 and -12y.

Also, multiply 2 by same 5y and 4. You will get 10y and 8

Therefore, the expansion of

( -3y + 2 )( 5y + 4 ) will be

-15y^2 - 12y + 10y + 8

-15y^2 - 2y + 8

Rewrite using a single positive exponent.<br> 6^5<br> 6
Fiesta28 [93]

Answer:

6^{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

using the rule of exponents

\frac{a^{m} }{a^{n} } = a^{(m-n)}

note that 6 = 6^{1} , then

\frac{6^{5} }{6} = 6^{(5-1)} = 6^{4}
