Answer:

That's called system of equations. it is like adding and subtracting.

Step-by-step explanation:

first you want to find x or y. i will choose x. in order to do that you need to put one, ill do the first one but you can do first or second, and change it to negative (-6x+6y=6) or -(-6x+6y=6), changing it to 6x - 6y = -6. then the two x's will be cancled since 6-6 is 0. now you add 6y and 3y, and 6 with -12. get your answer, and do the same thing to y, too. sorry if its a bit confusing, took me a while to learn it too. this is highschool stuff so thats why you will although im im middle too!

Kitty [74]
In this question we are asked to find the ratio of the number of chocolates which Lauren liked and the total of chocolates.

We know she doesn't like coconut and toffee, so she likes caramel, mint and cherry. When we count the ones she liked, we got 16+12+14=42.

When we add to find how many chocolates are there, we got 16+10+12+14+8=60.

To find the ratio we need to divide the first one and the second one: \frac{42}{60} = \frac{7}{10} = 0.7 is our probability.

How do the gcf and the lcm help you when multiplying and adding or subracting fractions
kari74 [83]

Explanation:

GCF: the greatest common factor of numerator and denominator is a factor that can be removed to reduce the fraction.

 Example

The numerator and denominator of 6/8 have GCF of 2:

 6/8 = (2·3)/(2·4)

The fraction can be reduced by canceling those factors.

 (2·3)/(2·4) = (2/2)·(3/4) = 1·(3/4) = 3/4

___

LCM: the least common multiple of the denominators is suitable as a common denominator. Addition and subtraction are easily performed on the numerators when the denominator is common.

 Example

The fractions 2/3 and 1/5 can be added using a common denominator of LCM(3, 5) = 15.

 2/3 + 1/5 = 10/15 + 3/15 = (10+3)/15 = 13/15
