Glucose enters erythrocytes via a GLUT-1 uniporter. As the levels of glucose in the bloodstream decrease between meals, what hap
BartSMP [9]

Answer:

A. Glucose leaves the cell through the GLUT-1 uniporter, traveling down the new concentration gradient.

Explanation:

The Glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) protein is a critical uniporter transporter that facilitates the movement of glucose molecules across the plasma membrane. The expression of GLUT1 is increased when glucose concentration is reduced and, inversely, GLUT1 expression is reduced when glucose levels are increased. The erythrocytes are cells that continuously require the supply of glucose from the blood plasma, this mechanism involves the function of GLUT1 that permits the energy-free passage of glucose by diffusion.

As you learned, thalidomide is a teratogen meaning that causes birth defects when taken by pregnancy women. Another teratogenic
konstantin123 [22]

Presence of a teratogen in the body of mother during pregnancy is responsible for mal growth of child or incomplete growth which may lead to abortion, still birth or even a defective child.

Explanation:

A teratogen is a substance that is known to cause defects in growth of child during the intrauterine growth period. Thalidomide was used as a morning sickness drug which relieved the vomiting nature of the would be mother. But the presence of thalidomide was responsible for less growth of limbs of the child. 36. Breezes are named
77julia77 [94]

The correct answer is - D- for the feature they blow from.

The breezes have all sorts of names, most of which tend to be derived from the feature they flow from. Lot of winds are named after the side of the world that they come from, so there's easterlies, westerlies, northern winds, southern winds. Some are maned after a river, as they flow along side it, like Vardarec. Some may be named after a mountain, or just have a name similar to a mountain, like mountain wind, forest wind, gorski vetrec.

Some winds, on the other hand, have names that describe their force, especially that goes for the strong ones, like bura along the Croatian coast on the Adriatic Sea.
