Which of the following statements is not a pseudopsychology claim? Answer Transplant organs carry personality traits that are al
zavuch27 [327]

Answer:

Several studies show a relationship between academic achievement and self-esteem.

Explanation:

Pseudopsychology claims are psychological claims which are false, unfounded and not based on scientific/research results. These claims may sound persuasive and even true but they are indeed false. For example, people sometimes claim that white men are smarter and more intelligent than black men, this is a pseudo claim with no scientific backing.

Back to the question, the only option with a scientific/research claim is "Several studies show a relationship between academic achievement and self-esteem". The rest are just claims without scientific proofs, however persuasive they sound, they are at best pseudo claims.

A school is considering a major change to its grading system. It recognizes that even though students work hard and do well for
In-s [12.5K]

Answer: Mean Central Tendency

Explanation:

Central tendency means the measures in which we use in finding  the average value of a statistical series of quantitative data. The mean gives the arithmetic average of a group of scores that is the scores from a data are totaled and divided by the number of scores. Mean as a measure for central tendency is   easy to understand, calculate and utilizes all scores of a distribution, However,  it tends to be affected by extreme scores giving absurd negative values for example, a couple of extremely low scores can skew the mean so that the average score appears much more lower than most of the scores actually are.

Here, Even though students work hard and do well for most of the grading period, sometimes students get overwhelmed and do poorly on one test, which affects their overall grades-->this is because mean central tendency can give negative absurd values for extreme scores ( in this case, low scores ) in its observation, affecting a student's overall grade.

According to the _____, if a stimulus causes a strong emotion (such as fear) an opposite emotion tends to occur when the stimulu
Lisa [10]

Answer:

This idea is according to the Opponent-Process Theory.

Explanation:

Opponent-Process Theory suggests the way an individual perceives colors is controlled by 3 opposing systems:

  • Green vs. red
  • Blue vs. yellow
  • black vs. white

An individual can only detect one of the two colors from each system at a time, since once of the colors tends to conceal the other.

This theory can be applied to emotions as well, also looking at them as pairs of opposites such as:

  • Sleepiness vs. arousal
  • Fear vs. relief
  • Pain vs. pleasure

In this case, once the stimulus which has caused fear ends, the opposite emotion will occur; relief.

Will give brainliest to correct answer: Why is it particularly challenging to study bias and point of views in world history?
sashaice [31]

Answer:

Regardless of whether they are conscious or learned implicitly within cultural contexts, biases have been part of historical investigation since the ancient beginnings of the discipline. As such, history provides an excellent example of how biases change, evolve, and even disappear.

Early attempts to make history an empirical, objective discipline (most notably by Voltaire) did not find many followers. Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, European historians only strengthened their biases. As Europe gradually dominated the world through the self-imposed mission to colonize nearly all the other continents, Eurocentrism prevailed in history.

Even within the Eurocentric perspective, not all Europeans were equal; Western historians largely ignored aspects of history, such as class, gender, or ethnicity. Until the rapid development of social history in the 1960s and 1970s, mainstream Western historical narratives focused on political and military history, while cultural or social history was written mostly from the perspective of the elites.

The biased approach to history-writing transferred also to history-teaching. From the origins of national mass schooling systems in the 19th century, the teaching of history to promote national sentiment has been a high priority. History textbooks in most countries have been tools to foster nationalism and patriotism and to promote the most favorable version of national history.

Germany attempts to be an example of how to remove nationalistic narratives from history education. The history curriculum in Germany is characterized by a transnational perspective that emphasizes the all-European heritage, minimizes the idea of national pride, and fosters the notion of civil society centered on democracy, human rights, and peace.

Despite progress and increased focus on groups that have been traditionally excluded from mainstream historical narratives (people of color, women, the working class, the poor, the disabled, LGBTQI-identified people, etc.), bias remains a component of historical investigation.
