In the Missouri, compromise balance was maintained with the 36 degrees 30 minutes latitude. Which in effect proposed<span> that Maine would enter as a free state, Missouri would come in with slaves, but no slavery would be permitted in other states developed out of the Louisiana Purchase north of 36 degrees 30 minutes latitude, Missouri’s southern boundary</span>

A totalitarian government might aim to take power because they want to be in control of every aspect of their people's daily lives. They want only their opinions to be accepted, and take out any opposing views. I mainly think that the main reason they do this is to be completely in control. Similar to the USSR, this occurred. There was no individuality in opinions, political beliefs, and freedoms that we have now.
