Two reasons can be as follow:

1) Desire to protect folk culture. People have an innate desire to protect and carry on their folk culture and adoption of new culture may interfere with that vision.
2) Fear of change or outside influences. People might have a fear that the outside culture will influence them in many undesirable ways which can prevent the adoption.

Sloan [31]

The phenomenon an amputee feels as an experimenter stimulates his cheek and the sensation felt in his lost hand is due to the fact that neurons in the unemployed hand area are recruited by the face area.

The ability to feel something physically, especially by touch, or a physical sensation resulting from that ability: a burning sensation.

The physical process by which the sense organs, such as hearing and taste, respond to external stimuli is called sensation. The sensations appear when you eat pasta, feel the wind on your face, or hear a car horn in the distance.
