In a woodworking class, you need to make five triangles out of plywood. Each triangle has a height of 6 inches and a base of 14

inches. Which equation can you use to solve for the total amount of plywood you will need? CLEAR CHECK 5x = 12 ⋅ 6 ⋅ 14 (12 ⋅ 6 ⋅ 14) ÷ 5 = x (12 ⋅ 6 ⋅ 14) x = 5 5 ⋅ (12 ⋅ 6 ⋅ 14) = x

Option D:

x=5\ .\ (\frac{1}{2}\times 14\times6)

Solution:

Base of the triangle = 14 inch

Height of the triangle = 6 inch

Area of the triangle = \frac{1}{2}\times bh

where b is base and h is height.

Substitute the given values in the formula.

Area of the triangle = \frac{1}{2}\times 14\times6

Area of the 5 triangles = 5\ .\ (\frac{1}{2}\times 14\times6)

Let total amount of plywood be taken as x.

Total amount of plywood = Area of the 5 triangles.

\Rightarrow x=5\ .\ (\frac{1}{2}\times 14\times6)

Option D is the correct answer.

x=5\ .\ (\frac{1}{2}\times 14\times6)

Hence this equation  can be use to solve for the total amount of plywood.
