The coordinates for triangle LMN are given below. If Joel plans to transform LMN using the rule (x, y) = (-y, x), which is a tru
Mice21 [21]

Answer:

ok the answer should be A.

Step-by-step explanation:

you transform the coordinates from (x,y) to (-y,x)

this means to flip the coordinates like bring y up front and change its sign and take x to the initial y position.

for example if (-1,9) when you do the transformation you get (-9,-1). you take initial -1 to the right and bring 9 to left and change its sign.

when you are done you can see that the x axis coordinates are the same but the y axis coordinates are the direct opposite. this means that after the transformation the triangle would look like the mirror image of the original triangle.

A bag contains 8 blue marbles, 6 green marbles, 12 yellow marbles, and 10 orange marbles. A marble is drawn at random from the b
Olenka [21]
Probability of anything =

     (number of possible successful outcomes)
divided by
(total possible number of outcomes) .

There are 36 total marbles in the bag, so there are 36 total
possible outcomes of one draw.

The successful outcomes are all the possible draws that are
not blue. There are 28 of those.

So the probability of a non-blue selection is

         28/36 = 7/9 = 77.8% (rounded)

These roots of the polynomial equation x^4-4x^3-2x^2+12x+9=0 are 3,-1,-1. Explain why the fourth root must be a real number. Fin
Alex787 [66]

Roots with imaginary parts always occur in conjugate pairs. Three of the four roots are known and they are all real, which means the fourth root must also be real.

Because we know 3 and -1 (multiplicity 2) are both roots, the last root r is such that we can write

x^4-4x^3-2x^2+12x+9=(x-3)(x+1)^2(x-r)

There are a few ways we can go about finding r, but the easiest way would be to consider only the constant term in the expansion of the right hand side. We don't have to actually compute the expansion, because we know by properties of multiplication that the constant term will be (-3)(1)(1)(-r)=3r.

Meanwhile, on the left hand side, we see the constant term is supposed to be 9, which means we have

3r=9\implies r=3

so the missing root is 3.

Other things we could have tried that spring to mind:

- three rounds of division, dividing the quartic polynomial by (x-3), then by (x+1) twice, and noting that the remainder upon each division should be 0

- rational root theorem

jerome tries to find the value of the expression 3-6+5 by first applying the communtative property. he rewrites the expression a
slega [8]

The commutative property is a property of addition, not of subtraction. It can work in a subtraction problem if you keep the sign with the number, so you're adding positive and negative numbers.

3 - 6 + 5

= (3) + (-6) + (5)

= (3) + (5) + (-6)

= 3 + 5 - 6
