Answer:

They are called mechanoreceptors.

Explanation:

Mechanoreceptors are sensory receptors belonging to the peripheral nervous system. The functions of sensory receptors is to enable detection of changes (by way of stimuli) in the external environment and also monitor the internal environment. The stimuli are of various sources and different types.

Different types of cells sense different types of stimuli. Receptor cells that sense chemical stimuli are called chemoreceptors, osmoreceptors detect changes in solute concentration of body fluids, thermoreceptors sense temperature stimuli, nociceptors, and mechanoreceptors that sense pressure and vibration, sensation of sound and body position.

Arrange the layers of rock oldest to youngest- conglomerate, limestone with crinoid, shale with ammonite, sandstone with trilobi
NNADVOKAT [17]

Oldest to youngest

Sandstone with trilobite → limestone with crinoid → shale with ammonite → conglomerate

According to the rule of superposition, rock strata (layers) that are the furthest from the ground's surface are the oldest (formed earliest) and those that are the nearest to it are the youngest (formed most recently).

What is a Rock ?

A rock is a dense mass of mineral grains that have grown or been cemented together over time. There are big rocks and little rocks. Pebbles are little rocks. One or more minerals can be found in every rock.

 • According to how they were formed, rocks are categorised by geologists (those who study rocks and minerals).

 • Among the physical characteristics of rocks are density, porosity, and permeability. Elastic modulus, Poisson's ratio, and rock strength are the primary characteristics of rocks in terms of mechanics.

How does a new hypothesis replace an older explanation of something in the natural world
Flura [38]

How does a new hypothesis replace an older explanation of something in the natural world? To understand this let us look at one of the classical example of geocentric theory and heliocentric theory. The geocentric theory states the Earth is at the centre of the solar system and the Sun, Moon, and all the other planets revolve around it. This ancient theory failed to explain the phenomenon like the phases of Moon, solar eclipse and lunar eclipse. The modern heliocentric theory which states that the Sun is at the centre of solar system, and all the planets including the Earth revolve around it. This theory was able to explain all the phenomenons unlike the geocentric theory. Hence the heliocentric theory replaced the geocentric theory.
