Explanation:

Take it from me, I feed raccoons in my backyard every night. Yes, I feed them by hand, and they are actually very sweet towards me. But, I have come across one rabid raccoon. He was very shy unlike the others, and he growled from a distance. I only could throw crackers towards him in order for him to eat.  But my point is he was very aggressive and shy and he knew he was getting fed by me. And with the other coons, they came up to me and gently took the cracker from my hand. If you just watch behavior in an animal, you will come across plenty of characteristics of rabies.
