We have been given that miss Roxanne is 25 years old and she puts 1800 dollars per quarter that returns 6% interest.

(a) We need to figure out how much will be in the account when she turns 65 years old. When she turns 65 years old, the number of years during which she made deposits would be 40. Since she made quarterly deposits. She made a total of 160 deposits. We can now figure out the final amount in the account using future value of annuity formula.

A=P\frac{(1+r)^{n}-1}{r}

We have the values P=1800, r=6/4% = 1.5% = 0.015 and n=160.

Therefore, the amount in the account would be:

A=1800\frac{(1+0.015)^{160}-1}{0.015}=1179415.39

Therefore, miss Roxanne will be 1179415.39 dollars in her account when she turns 65 years old.

(b) In this part we need to figure out the total amount she deposited.

The total amount she deposited would be 1800*160=\$288000.

(c) We can find the interest earned by subtracting her contribution from the answer of part (a).

Interest earned = 1179415.39-288000=\$891415.39

a. The amount that will be in her account when she will turn 65 years is <u>$1,179,415.39 .</u>

b. The total contribution to the account by her is <u>$288,000 .</u>

c. The interest earned by her is <u>$891,415.39 .</u>

Further Explanation:

a.

In order to calculate the amount that will be in her account when she is 65 years old, we will find the future value. The Future Value is used to calculate the futuristic value of cash flow.

The formula to future value (FV) is:

\begin{gathered}  {\text{FV of the annuity  =  P }}\left( {\frac{{{{(1 + r)}^n} - 1}}{r}} \right) \\   {\text{P  =  Periodic Payment}} \\   r = {\text{ rate per period}} \\   n = {\text{ number of periods}} \\ \end{gathered}

Calculate the Future Value:

Rate per period:

\begin{gathered}  r = \frac{{6\% }}{4} \\    = 1.5 \\ \end{gathered}

Future value:

\begin{gathered}  {\text{Future}}\,{\text{value}} = {\text{ \$ 1,800}}\left( {\frac{{{{(1 + 0.015)}^{160}} - 1}}{{0.015}}} \right) \\    = \$ 1,800 \times 655.23 \\    = \$ 1,179,415.39 \\ \end{gathered}

<u>The amount that will be in her account when she will turn 65 years is $1,179,415.39 </u>

b.

Calculate her total contribution to the account:

Total contribution = $1,800 × 4 × 40

                              = $288,000

<u> Her total contribution to the account is $288,000. </u>

c.

Calculate the interest she earned:

Interest = $1,179,415.39 - $288,000

             = $891,415.39

<u>The interest earned by her is $891,415.39. </u>

What must be a factor of the polynomial function f(x) graphed on the coordinate plane below?
Tamiku [17]

Answer:

D. x + 6

Step-by-step explanation:

In the given graph, we have 3 x-intercepts values, which are points at which the line intercepts the x-axis. They are, -6, -3 and 0.

Each of these x-intercepts can be written as a factor of a polynomial function as follows:

x = -6

x = -6 + 6

x + 6 = 0

x = -3

x = -3 + 3

x + 3 = 0

x = 0

Therefore, the factor of the polynomial function must be: x + 6

A survey collects demographic, socioeconomic, dietary, and health-related information on an annual basis. Here is a sample of 20
garik1379 [7]

Answer:

(a) The point estimate of the population mean HDL cholesterol level is 49.95.

(b) The point estimate of the value that separates the largest 50% of HDL levels from the smallest 50% is 47.5.

(c) The point estimate of the population standard deviation is 16.85.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given a sample of 20 observations on HDL cholesterol level (mg/dl) obtained from the survey below;

35, 49, 51, 54, 65, 51, 52,  47, 87, 37, 46, 33, 39, 44,  39, 64, 94, 34, 30, 48.

(a) The point estimate of the population mean HDL cholesterol level is given by the sample mean of the above data, i.e;

        Sample Mean, \bar X  =  \frac{\sum X}{n}

            =  \frac{35+ 49+ 51+ 54 +65 +51+ 52+ 47+ 87+ 37+ 46+ 33+ 39+ 44+ 39+ 64+ 94+ 34+ 30+ 48}{20}

            =  \frac{999}{20}  =  49.95

So, the point estimate of the population mean HDL cholesterol level is 49.95.

(b) The point estimate of the value that separates the largest 50% of HDL levels from the smallest 50% is given by the Median of the above data.

Firstly, arranging the given data in ascending order we get;

30, 33, 34, 35, 37, 39, 39, 44, 46, 47, 48, 49, 51, 51, 52, 54, 64, 65, 87,  94.

Now, for calculating median we have to first observe that the number of observations (n) in our data is even or odd, i.e;

  • If n is odd, then the formula for calculating median is given by;

                      Median  =  (\frac{n+1}{2})^{th} \text{ obs.}

  • If n is even, then the formula for calculating median is given by;

                      Median  =  \frac{(\frac{n}{2})^{th} \text{ obs.}+(\frac{n}{2}+1)^{th} \text{ obs.}  }{2}

Here, the number of observations is even, i.e. n = 20.

So,   Median  =  \frac{(\frac{n}{2})^{th} \text{ obs.}+(\frac{n}{2}+1)^{th} \text{ obs.}  }{2}

                      =  \frac{(\frac{20}{2})^{th} \text{ obs.}+(\frac{20}{2}+1)^{th} \text{ obs.}  }{2}

                      =  \frac{(10)^{th} \text{ obs.}+(11)^{th} \text{ obs.}  }{2}

                      =  \frac{47+48 }{2}

        Median  =  47.5

Hence, the point estimate of the value that separates the largest 50% of HDL levels from the smallest 50% is 47.5.

(c) The point estimate of the population standard deviation is given by the following formula;

      Standard deviation, s  =  \sqrt{\frac{\sum(X-\bar X)^{2} }{n-1} }

       =  \sqrt{\frac{ (30-49.95)^{2}+(33-49.95)^{2}+(34-49.95)^{2}+........+(94-49.95)^{2}}{{20-1}}  }} }

       =  16.85
