Chemistry

The picture of Au₃N is attached below.

The first part of the picture shows the formation of Au and N ions.

Formation of Au⁺¹ :

                            As Gold has one valence electron in 6s¹ therefore, it will loose it to form Au⁺¹. In case of Au₃N three atoms of Au looses three electrons to form three Au⁺¹ ions.

Formation of N⁻³ :

                            As Nitrogen has 5 valence elctrions therefore, it will gain three electrons that lost by Au to form Nitrite (i.e. N⁻³)

Formation of Au₃N:

                                Three cations of Au⁺ combines with one anion of N⁻³ to form a neutral ionic compound i.e. Au₃N as shown in second part of the picture.

Assume that the half-life of an M&M is 15 seconds A. you start with M& M's, how many would be left unchanged after 1 min
Nata [24]

Answer:

See below

Explanation:

1 minute is   4 halflives    ( because  4 x 15 sec = 1 minute)

(1/2)^4 = 1/16

you will have 1/16 as many M&M as you started

Use the mass and volume data to calculate the density of an unknown metal to the nearest hundredth.
11Alexandr11 [23.1K]

Answer:

8.90

Explanation:

Density = mass ÷ volume

D = 222.50 g ÷ 25.00

= 8.9

The density of the unknown metal is 8.90.

Hope that helps.

Draw a triacylglycerol (triglyceride) made from glycerol, myristic acid [CH3(CH2)12COOH], palmitic acid [CH3(CH2)14COOH], and ol
Sergio039 [100]

Answer:

The triglyceride made from glycerol, myristic acid, palmitic acid and cis-oleic acid is shown in the attached pictures.

Explanation:

A triglyceride or triacylglyceride is an ester derived from glycerol and three fatty acids. The fatty acids of this exercise are myristic acid, palmitic acid and oleic acid.

A fatty acid is a biomolecule of lipid nature formed by a long linear hydrocarbon chain, of different length or number of carbon atoms, at the end of which is a carboxyl group.

The myristic acid has a carbon chain of 14 carbon atoms with a carboxyl group at one end.

Palmitic acid has a carbon chain of 16 carbon atoms with a carboxyl group at one end.

Oleic acid has a carbon chain of 18 carbon atoms with a carboxyl group at one end and a double bond at position 9.

Triglyceride is formed by the esterification of the glycerol oxidrile group and the carboxyl acid group.

Match each species on the left to a description on the right.
Strike441 [17]

Answer:

Explanation:

I₂ + 2 e = 2I⁻

I₂ converts itself into I⁻ by accepting electron . In this process it increases the oxidation number of element from which it takes electron . Hence it is an oxidizing agent .

Similarly O₂ is also an oxidizing agent .

O₂ + 4e = 2O⁻²

Al is a reducing agent .

Al = Al⁺³ + 3 e

Al gives 3 electrons to other element whose oxidation number is reduced . Hence it is reducing agent .

Similarly Cr is also a reducing agent .

Cr = Cr⁺³ + 3 e .
